We were staying as a group to celebrate a special birthday and life event. However, the hotel let itself down with poor service, disappointing quality of food and rooms in need of modernisation, especially the bathroom. Staff were pleasant enough but I shall definitely not be returning, compared to other establishments of a similar rating, I was left feeling cheated.

A return visit-a really good nights' sleep in a comfortable ground floor room. As it was weekend and we had not prebooked a time for dinner we were offered as residents either 6.45pm or 9.30pm as there were some large outside groups dining. We walked to the Caernarvon Castle nearby instead and inspite of it being heaving they got us... More

My family have just finished a 4 night stay at Riverhill at our recommendation, as we are local to Oxton. They were visiting from Ireland. They stayed in room 10 and were very much enamored with the everything about their stay. The room, the staff, the service and the general idillic surroundings of a quiet, leafy English village. Though being... More

Having moved back to the area after 17 years we came for a meal on our wedding anniversary. The first thing to say is that food was good, unadventurous, but solid in a home cooking kind of way. The service was perfectly competent and we enjoyed ourselves. But there were a few things that chipped way at the overall experience.... More

Rather than stay in Liverpool and pay for a taxi under the Mersey to get to our main target, the Fraiche restaurant in Oxton, we decided to try out this hotel which is within easy walking distance. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, the room was decent enough if a bit on the small side, although very good value, and... More

Always a joy to dine in this restaurant. Lovely crisp, white linen; table set with range of wine glasses, also gleaming; drinks in the bar whilst you select from the menu, also a nice start. Staff are charming and nothing too much trouble. A wide choice from the menu, always beautifully presented. Trademark sweet trolley, a must. Thoroughly recommended for... More
