We arrived on Friday afternoon and despite also being busy with the bar was over to us really quickly to check us in. The bar in the evening was good fun with everybody getting to know each other. Breakfast in the morning was also very good.

Stayed in the "Drovers" whilst at a wedding Thursday Night. We had a room at the far end of the corridor and it was nice and quiet. I can see if you had a room above the bar it could be noisy!!. The staff were very helpful (when we arrived the lady on the deck moved her car so that... More

The price was so cheap we weren't expecting much but we were very pleasantly surprised. Huge comfy bed, quiet, warm room, delicious breakfast and very friendly staff. Downstairs there is a bar which I think could get a bit noisy, we just joined in with the locals!

Our room was nice, freshly decorated and good value for money. However, breakfast on the Sunday morning was a joke. When we arrived in the breakfast room at 9ish, there were 8 or 10 builders in there, all wanting their cooked breakfasts. So we just had toast and cereal. There was only one member of staff on duty, no-one dealing... More

We booked over the internet. They fail to let you know you are staying in rooms over a pub. Room and bathroom were dated but clean. On the good side: great location, walking distance to shopping, restaurants, bus, train ; breakfast was excellent and Wfii available in public areas. On the bad side: Noisy during weekend late nights (Friday and... More

Hi , your comments both positive and negative are noted, given your appraisal of the great location , in the centre of the busiest street in town, logically it brings with it on weekends lots of people and passing trade, we are very open and honest about how busy it gets on a Friday and Saturday evenings, and we are... We arrived in town with nowhere to stay and went to the first hotel we found. Host was very nice and let us look at a room which we saw was fine for a quick layover. They had private parking which is a big plus. Room was clean, though, since it's an old hotel, there was noise from other rooms.... More

Hi George , your comments reiterate exactly how we market our rooms, on a bed & breakfast. Basis,, most of our rooms are let for one or two nights,we don't claim to be a 5 star resort . We do however offer big rooms, with a lot of extras that most people don't even acknowledge in the reviews , at... More

We stayed overnight on a Saturday night, to collect our daughter from university. The hotel is well located in the centre of town. There is some parking around the back of the hotel. The bar is located at the front door and doubles as reception. On our arrival there was a noisy party going on in the bar. We were... More

Comments noted, as an historic listed building that had been a coaching inn and public house for over 150 years on the busiest street in town, we would expect to be busy on a Saturday night, The night you stayed we did have a small party going on in the function room, but music is turned off at 12, considering... On the plus side, good value for money, good location. Great cooked breakfast. Room seemed clean, but dated. Shower was very good. Good size kettle and mugs in room. Tea bags provided but no coffee. Negatives: bed by the window in twin room 16 was ridiculously saggy. Very uncomfortable. I would feel embarrassed if I expected someone to sleep on... More

Hi, your comments have been noted and we have refurbished the entire beds in each room, strangely we note that the bed was actually broken, it was not on your arrival, but if you had mentioned it to reception it would have been replaced before your second nights stay. Mind reading is not included in the room rate , but... More
