Nothing special but perfectly acceptable - very clean and reasonably presented, though the sheets were so thin as to be practically transparent. The cooked breakfast was good, though the tea could have been hotter and more plentiful, also beware it is charged over and above the room rate, unusual in the UK outside Travel Inns and the like. Main problem... more

Asked for a twin, but got a double, great we thought! 2 big double beds. then we started to look around............. 1. There had been water damage at some point from the ceiling, as the paper was bulging, and was actually missing from the centre of the ceiling. 2. Bulbs missing from lights above bed. 3. Sockets not working next... more

The Boars Head lets itself down by focusing on cutting corners rather than creating a good visitor experience. The bar lounge area is typical local pub that seems to be popular with local groups who use the function rooms. Good beers on tap and good prices. However, the fun begins in the rooms up the steep stairs. I saw two... more

The Boars Head is on a main street with many similar inns offering guest accommodation. We had a triple room (well, family i.e. double and a single) that suited us fine just for the night as we had a very early train to catch. The room was very clean, the en-suite bathroom spacious and comfortable. Maybe the check in procedure... more

We have just returned from a night's stay at the Boars Head in Camarthen. Whilst the room was adequate we were kept awake by an unruly aggresive drunk gentleman in the next room until 4am. We could not contact anyone in the hotel to deal with the problem as the reception was unmanned at night, and we were too scared... more

We found this place, right in the centre of Carmarthen, after getting stranded in Carmarthen in a storm, and fleeing in desperation from the god-awful bland Ivy House Hotel up the road, allegedly 'the town's finest'. The Boar is inexpensive, the rooms comfortable but hardly chic, the bar welcoming (a friendly mix of locals) and the pub food well above... more

The centre of the town is a thriving focal mixture of small and large shops featuring several specialist shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and hotels within a mainly pedestrianised area which becomes very lively on a Saturday night. The Boar's Head Hotel is just up the street with a handy car park for guests and a warm welcome. The main bar... more

Have tried most of Carmarthen hotels and found most wanting. the room in this one was small and poky and the decor defied description. The bed was cheap and uncomfortable and the room looked as though it had been furnished from a jumble sale. Awful. more
