A groups of friends travelled to walk up Buckden Pike and were looking forward to a stay in a real ale pub after a cold day out. Firstly the rooms need some serious updating as the decor left a lot to be desired. Our evening went reasonably well and we enjoyed some ok pub food washed down with some good... more

After reading the bad reviews on here, we were worried. What a load of rubbish Julie and Alf the owners were lovely and we couldnt meet a nicer couple. They made us very welcome. Food was excellent. Rooms were nice and clean and spacious, Not to my taste in decor, but very nice. This was our second night stop over... more

Ok, I'll start with the good point. The place serves excellent Real Ale. Six different beers at any one time and all the ones I tasted were kept well. Unfortunately thats where the praise ends. We stayed for one night while on a walking holiday only to be greated by the landlady who looked at us as though we weren't... more

Having had fond memories of this pub over many years, our short stay was extremely disappointing. The room was of a reasonable size but felt tired, was dusty and the en suite had a strong musty smell. The food was basic and certainly overpriced for pub grub. The Landlady could do with smiling occasionally and could do with refraining detailing... more

Myself and my family booked in for a meal on a busy friday evening. On the whole the food was god, but the evening was marred by the very odd couple who run the place - they bickered and argued amongst themselves most of the night. The staff were generally excellent, and it would appear the Buck Inn needs new... more

We have only ever eaten here before so our 4 night stay over Easter was a first. The hotel has been done up in the last 2 years but the room we had does require an update, although it was clean(ish) and big with a view to the front. The location is nestling under Buckden Pike with views over the Dales. The... more

The Buck Inn went through a very bad time a few years ago. The current owners have certainly improved things in the past 2 years, so any reports from before 2007 should be discarded. On our visit, the bedrooms were clean (but terribly chintzy and in need of redecorating), the bar food and beer ok and the open fire in... more

We had stayed at the Buck Inn many years ago and decided to have another break there but was nearly put off by the other reviews but glad we decided to give the new owners a chance. They have certainly turned the place around back to its excellent accommodation and food. We could not fault it. It is well decorated,... more

We have been to the Buck Inn for a drink and a meal in the past as we often stay in Buckden. We were there in November 2007 and could not beleive the transformation the place had undergone since the new owners have taken over, so much so we booked there and then to stay for this weekend as it... more
