OK let's have some objectivity here. The place is charming and in a delightful location. It is the sort of cottage everyone who aspires to have one would like to own. The owners are attentive but I wouldn't like to cross them as I guess that complaints would not go down too well. It is a guest house when all... more

My husband and I actually extended our stay at this lovely inn...it is conveniently situated next to the village square where locals still ride their horses down the main street. The hospitality and service are personal and welcoming. The bedrooms are all soundproof with comfortable beds and beautifully appointed ensuites. The breakfasts were superb and even included a variety of... more

Joe and Elizabeth could not be more welcoming and determined to ensure their visitors enjoy their stay. The rooms were spotless and cosy. The lounge, with honour bar, was peaceful and welcoming. Beware of asking Joe a question if you don't have a spare half hour to hear the answer. But, if you do, prepare for a wealth of information... more

We have just come back from 2 nights in the Garden Suite,We loved it! exceptionally clean and lovely. We took the rain with us but as we had gone to see the waterfalls it actually benefited us. Breakfast was tasty and the owner was exceptionally helpful, he even lit our log burning stove for us. We will definitely return and... more

My partner and I were going to Yorkshire on a family matter and decided to make a weekend of it. We used TripAdvisor reviews in the planning of our accommodation and were initially concerned of a recent and quite disturbing criticism of the venue we read after we'd booked, so I suppose we were a bit apprehensive . However, we... more

My friend and I stayed 4 nights at Ashfield House in the garden suite. We had a great break away but unfortunately I found the owner rather overbearing. The garden suite is lovely but at £96 a night it is vastly over priced. the breakfasts were basic but tasty. I would expect far more variety including fresh fruit and homemade... more

We came here for the Christmas market weekend on the 12th Dec. Our friends go to the market every year and last year they stumbled upon Joe outside his hotel Ashfield house, they instantly knew this place was going to be good. Joe told them of his own dry cured bacon and wonderfull other food on the menu and his... more

Clean, welcoming, good food but grossly overpriced. It is essentially a good B&B but it is trying to be an hotel (which it is not and never can be). One small round pat of butter (for two people to share) which covers only half a bread roll of one person is taking portion control a step too far! more
