We recently spent 5 days and 4 nights on the Tarkine Explorer. The Tarkine is the most pristine wilderness area we had ever visited: the majesty of the trees, the absolute quietness, the beauty of the forest and Pieman river and the history were all stunning. Two nights are spent in tents with a communal long house and superb outdoor... More

My husband & I were fortunate enough to spend 4 wonderful days in the Tarkine. The effect it had on us is indescribable. We expected something "magical" and were not disappointed. Had to keep pinching ourselves that we were immersed in this enchanting wonderland of such beautiful old, old, old growth trees and the most fantastic fungi, ferns and vines.... More

Just completed a fantastic 4-day long weekend with emphasis on forest and fungi photography with Wynyard Camera Club members and friends accompanied by Tasmanian landscape photographer Chris Bell and local Wynyard photographer and Club Patron, Phil O'Neill. Sixteen people enjoyed a catered camp under canvas in permanent tents with comfy stretcher and mattress, kitchen/dining/communal meeting shelter with wood fire and... More

It was an unforgettable 4 days. I expected it to be beautiful and amazing, and I wasn't disappointed. Our guide Darvis, the accommodation, the food, and the amenities were all great. What I didn't expect was the emotional response I felt to this amazing landscape, it bought me to tears more than once. How very privileged we are to still... More

My husband and I will never forget the sublime 6 day trek in the Tarkine rainforest with Tarkine Trails. The whole thing was simply stunning - the company, food, knowledge and enthusiasm of the guides - and of course the most amazing ancient and truly pristine wilderness. We feel so lucky and privileged to have set foot in this beautiful... More

Wow - our 2night / 3 day trip into the magnificent Tarkine Rainforest was truly spectacular. This part of the world needs to be protected so many generations to come can share the joy it has to offer. Tarkine Trails were very professional and friendly team right from booking to saying goodbye to our amazing guides Rob & Clare. I... More

My wife and I are reasonably experienced bush-walkers and yet we had never 'really' visited the Tarkine, it's that remote and isolated. We have seen many absolutely beautiful natural places but nothing will move you as much as the ancient forest of the Tarkine as it allows you to become immersed in it's beauty and brings tears of joy to... This three day trip into the Tasmanian Tarkine rainforest remains a highlight for me. The walk in to the Retreat was just far enough to feel we really were in the wilds, though not really strenuous. Tiger Ridge is in a breath-takingly beautiful mature myrtle rain forest. The fallen leaves form a scattering of golden drops that almost glow -... More
