Had a platter with the meats to start, nice but the meats looked dried at the edges, although in fairness the selection was nice overall, bread wasn't entirely soft but I wonder if the heat had anything to do with this. The light bites menu - the lasagne was poor, hardly any meat had been microwaved with dry edges, and... More

Dry and overcooked sea bass with no sauce. Ordinary tagliatelle ,had to ask for Parmesan cheese and black pepper. Extra dessert not ordered Small portions for price. We were looking forward to an enjoyable meal with friends but were very disappointed and we won't be returning.

Three of us had lunch and we found the service and food first class. The meal was hot and tasty. The surroundings are light and airy and very clean with plenty of room to move your chairs in and out without knocking into the next table. Will certainly eat there again and have already recommended it.

We visited on a Saturday lunchtime . It was a lovely day so we sat outside in a court yard . The young staff that served us to our drinks and who bought our food out were really friendly . We ordered off the light bites menu the prices were really reasonable. I chose the small gammon and chips and... More

Love this restaurant so much. Tried it one Saturday evening now regularly go for Sunday lunch which in my opinion is the best around. Staff are lovely food is so tasty and all home cooked. Cannot stress how nice the meals are always cooked to perfection.

Strange combinations on the Christmas menu. Didn't really have traditional written all over it? I didn't really like the food that I ordered except the Christmas Pudding which was lovely. Service was good - felt a bit cramped though - small place. Wouldn't eat there again. I guess first impressions are important (to me anyway)..

This is the second time we have stayed at the Blue Lion to break up our travel North. The food on the first occasion was only average, however this time everything was very tasty and hot. The steak and gammon were great and cooked perfectly. I loved the cheese and biscuits, an interesting selection of cheese, all of which I... More

A very clean and well-presented establishment tucked well away from the beaten path. My wife and I arrived for lunch on Monday when the restaurant was almost empty-not a good sign but we needn't have worried..I started off with a novel starter (for me) of Beetroot-cured Salmon with Wasabi flavoured Potato salad.Unusual but it worked. Mains were Mussels cooked in... More

Absolutely fantastic meal, a small but classy restaurant. We all had mixed grill with blue cheese sauce, it was the best English meal I've ever had in a pub. The staff were fantastic and food brilliant. I've only ever wrote 2 reviews one was the worst I've ever had and this one, the best I've ever had !

Sunday lunch at the blue lion started favourably as we saw other lunches being served. We both ordered roast beef after being assured that it could be served rare. No complaints there, it was cooked perfectly and was very tasty. The problem with the lunch was the overpowering flavour of the gravy. The old saying that 'gravy maketh the meal'... More
