We visited this country pub for Sunday lunch. It was so disappointing. The mushroom starter was something you could rustle up at home in 5 minutes and the roast just looked sad. A very small flat Yorkshire sat on medium to well cooked beef (we both ordered rare) with vegetables that tasted 3 days old. The roasties were good but... More

We booked out the entire restaurant for this special occasion. Charlotte and her staff were very attentive and all the details were managed well. The food was excellent, it arrived promptly and all at the same time. The wine flowed and a good time was had by all.

A big thank you to Carlo, Charlotte and the team at the Blue Lion for a terrific tapas evening for 24 to celebrate our daughters 21st birthday. Nice food and great atmosphere. Carlo kept in touch before the evening to ensure everything run smoothly and nothing was too much trouble. The birthday cake made by the chef was to die... More

Nice decor, atmosphere and good service, but severely let down by over priced and under impressive food. We were here on a Friday evening, group of 9. We were asked to choose our food earlier in the week, which wasn't feasible and were told it would lead to a longer wait.... Which it did. We found this odd, regular Friday... More

We decided last minute to try the Blue Lion. The bread/olive sharing platter was ok but we were disappointed to be served only white bread and a better quality olive oil would have been better. We had to wait some time for our mains but they were definitely worth waiting for, my sea bass was very good. We will return... More

Bit worried after reading the previous reviews, but had a good experience. The restaurant was busy, food v good especially the meat platter to share(bread soft & meats fresh,so maybe it was the heat which caused issues for one of the previous reviewers). Vegetables cooked to perfection, nice & crunchy! More than happy to add extra prawns & remove the... More

Our group consisted of myself, my wife, son and daughter in law and three grandsons aged 10 to 15. Meal started OK with platters to share outside. We were then called into the restaurant for the main course. What a disaster! I was informed just before the meal arrived that they had no apples and so the pork medallions were... More

Had a platter with the meats to start, nice but the meats looked dried at the edges, although in fairness the selection was nice overall, bread wasn't entirely soft but I wonder if the heat had anything to do with this. The light bites menu - the lasagne was poor, hardly any meat had been microwaved with dry edges, and... More
