Arriving by boat gives you the feeling that you are going to an island, and being the only resort in the Park, to an isolated island. This is a place that you will love (as we did) if you are a traveller who seeks for the best corals in the Bali and Lombok area, who seeks a serene and secluded... More

I have mixed feelings about this place. Upon arrival, my initial reaction was that it was a decent resort in a unique, serene, and beautiful setting. The resort is located in West Bali National Park, which is best accessible by boat. The nearest "big city" is about a 30 minute boat ride and 1-2 hours car ride away, so it's... More

So sad what has happened here. I stayed here 3 years ago in one of the two beachfront villas and loved it. Sure the place was a bit rough but location more than made up for it. So it was with much anticipation that I returned here this year. I booked the only beachfront villa still standing as the previous... More

Don't go here, whatever you think of the internet description. The huts are dirty, the wash-basin & toilet cracked & chipped, the beach covered in rubbish, the food mediocre. Needs pulling down & completely rebuilding. Appears nothing has been done to improve it for years.

I can recommend this resort for nature lovers. It's located right at the shore in the center of the West Bali National Park and you can watch monkeys, deers, etc. within the resort right from your place. Currently the Lanai bungalows are attractively discounted and provide a good value: AC, hot shower, nice room, sun deck, facing the sea, with... More

You go here for the location - the only resort in the national park, with easy access to Menjangan island's wonderful coral reefs. Snorkelling tours to the island were wonderful and off the resort beach is quite good, there was very little rubbish on the beach out front, and what is there is outside their property and probably from fishing... the location of the formerly called waka shorea beach resort, is superb. located far away from the noise in the middle of westbali national park with boat service from the little village 10 min away. coming close to this place by boat you get thrilled about the natural beauty of the beach location, unspoiled and peaceful. but as soon as... Great location, but everything is falling apart (rooms, boats, amenities, etc). As others have pointed out, photos are from when it opened 15 years ago! We had power cuts, water outages, and (friendly) staff that are unable to do much about fixing things that have been neglected for the last decade. Avoid!

Waka Shorea Resort (or Shorea Beach Resort) is a fantastic place, hard to find elsewhere in Bali, and hard to categorise. It's quiet, surrounded by beautiful snorkelling water and narrow white coral and sand beach. It is also a 5-minute boat ride from the exquisite snorkelling of Menjangan Island and has views of mountains all around. It is rustic -... More

When you read all of the reviews for Shorea Beach Resort (formerly Waka Shorea) it'll be clear that this isn't Club Med. If you demand pristine cleanliness above all else, go somewhere else. If you think you'd enjoy sleeping in a private bungalow (meters from any other buildings) in a national park, stay here. BTW, I'm not saying that Shorea... More
