Great location in the centre of the Paekakariki village. The room was large, light and clean with a spa bath and deck overlooking the main street. Really wasn't expecting it to be so nice but the hotel is fairly new and though the rooms are above the pub noise is no issue. We had a group of friends all staying... More

While we have never stayed in the Motel we have been here many times to enjoy the restaurant/bar/cinema. We love the relaxed, friendly atmosphere here and the wonderful food, whether you just want a snack or a proper meal, drinks, cinema and if you are inclined, the option to play the pokies. In Summer, it's wonderful to sit in the... More

We needed a quick meal in a hurry on a Saturday night so called into Finns to try it out. The staff was friendly and helpful, allowing us to adapt the menu to our individual tastes. The food came quickly and was nicely presented. For the most part it was tasty and well cooked. but steak was a bit over... More

I cannot rate this enough. Just a short walk from the station. Huge, excellently equipped rooms. Fantastic bar and restaurant downstairs. Great beers. Great food. Friendly banter from the locals. Comfortable. Relaxing. But most of all the welcome and service from the owners was more than expected, a lovely couple. I'll certainly be staying here again.

We have stayed here twice, each time on our way to the Wellington ferry for an early sailing. The rooms are great, roomy and well equipped. The restaurant is casual and friendly. This seems typical of an owner operated business where you get excellent service with good value. Even though the railway line is adjacent I have never been woken... More

I stopped in this motel because of its position not too far from the city of Wellington from which, the next morning, once dropped off my rented car at the airport, I had to proceed by plane to the South Island. I was positively impressed by the location, the very, very spacious rooms and their comfort. Yes, the frequent trains... More

Have now stayed at Finns on six occasions for two to three nights while visiting family nearby, and we keep going back when in the area due to the lovely comfortable, clean well equipped rooms and friendly service- nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant downstairs is a great place to eat when in Paekakariki.

We were on a Steam Incorporated steam train excursion from Paekakariki to Wanganui & stayed 2 nights (in room 6) at Finns. We were 'gobsmacked' at the size of room - easily twice as big as most regular rooms. Superbly fitted out with top hotel standard bathroom fittings - Complete with top of the range spa bath. Unfortunately was not... More
