This was our second night on our Hadrians wall trail walk. We had only had to walk 8 miles that day in very pleasant conditions. Nice guest house in a beautiful location with a well planted walled garden. The rooms were very good. Breakfast on our departure was also very good. As there are no pubs or restaurants close by... My Mother, son and I stayed here on 6&7 June whilst attending a family Wedding at nearby St Oswald's church. We were given suggestions of nearby hotels and B&B's, but the Dovecote appealed to me the most, based on what I saw on the website. I'm so pleased I chose it as it was idyllic. Jane greeted us with a... More

I stayed at the Dovecote on Sunday the 25th May 2014. I was greeted by the owner Jane and shown to my room which was in the main house. The room was immaculate and spacious. Since it was a Bank holiday weekend, the local pub was not serving food, so Jane kindly drove me several miles to one in Wall,... More

Warm welcome on arrival. Nice room, well equipped for wet walkers. Good sized communal sitting room / dining room. Yummy full English breakfast, especially the local sausages and homemade jam. Only 10 minute walk from the Hadrian's Wall Trail.

The guest room was also nice and other guests used it and we enjoyed so,e good conversation. Seven guests shared a beautiful, restaurant... More

We arrived late afternoon at The Dovecote, although we stayed across the road at East House. Jane served tea/coffee and fantastic biscuits in the walled garden and couldn't have made us more welcome. The rooms are large and have good bathrooms. We enjoyed dinner at a large table with 4 other guests, all of whom like us, were walking Hadrian's... More

15 minutes walk up the hill from Chesters fort. Friendly but discreet owners. Very nice dinner after a full days walking (nearest pub is a mile away). Lovely Georgian House with good bathrooms. Quiet and away from the main busy road which cuts through Chollerford. Highly recommended as a stop off point if walking the wall.
