We checked in on a Sunday afternoon and admired the location of the hotel. Our room was comfortable and well equipped. Initial impressions had the staff as friendly but subdued. Two things turned the visit into a below-average experience. Firstly the decor in the public areas is garish in the extreme and reveals an obsession with sheep. One or two paintings... More

We stayed for two nights at this delightful oasis of calm. From the moment you arrive you receive a warm welcome and as you settle into your room fresh tea is served. Our room, Vermeer, was very comfortable however if you are light intolerant you might prefer a different room as steps to the bathroom require a night light for... More

Stayed for our first wedding anniversary at the Renoir suite, a lovely sumptuous room with a very classy bathroom. The Michelin starred restaurant lived up to expectations with a wonderful 5 course taster menu, the salt marsh lamb was truly lovely. A really comfortable and relaxing experience!!!

Off the beaten track, Ynyshir Hall offers the perfect location for a peaceful and indulgent getaway. Situated in deepest, darkest Wales, this gem is a haven for those seeking superb food (a well-deserved Michelin star) in an ideal location to explore the beautiful Welsh countryside. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and shown to our upgraded room featuring a luxurious... More

Stayed with friends for one night, sampling the theatre that is the Chefs table. It would be hard to find fault with the Hotel at all. Grounds are extensive and well maintained, offering ample space to stroll or weather permitting, sit for a drink. Aesthetically, the house is impressive on the drive up. The welcome was exceptionally warm and service... More

Set in part of an estate formerly owned by Queen Victoria, it is tranquillity personified. A smallish country house decorated in traditional style, with artistic themes - the owner being an artist himself. It does have what appears to be more of a contemporary accommodation next to the main house. We had the Matisse Suite. It's pink - very pink!... More

The hotel and welcome are truly first class. Our suite was simply divine. Bright, clean, lovely view over the gardens and extremely comfortable. Foolishly, we dined in the restaurant on our first night; £80 per head for a tasting style menu. We sat down at our table at 8:10pm and were still there at 10:50pm. At which time we left,... More

Joan Reen (the co-owner) gave us a very warm welcome with her super large but friendly dog. Her husband Rob’s pictures decorating the walls are very striking and the whole house is decorated in a very colourful but tasteful way and is absolutely immaculate. Our room Renoir was very well furnished with sofa and windows overlooking the brilliant red rhododendron... More
