The Sloop Inn has a lovely setting with beautiful views of the Wye Valley. Even in the rain and the mist it has been stunning looking out the bedroom window each morning. Breakfast is reasonable: Orange juice/tea/coffee and full English/toast/selection of cereals on offer. We stayed here 5 nights and had no major complaints. There was occasional noise from people... Called in for lunch here after a long walk in the stunning Wye valley with a friend. A friendly welcome from the barman and a local with his dog. We ordered plaice and chips and fish cakes and chips and ate in the bar as the restaurant was closed, so unfortunately we had no views of the river from where... More

The homemade burgers are very tasty. Good bed and breakfast, only small negative comment is some noise from the bar in my room but stopped at closing time - I like to go to bed early! Welcoming owner. Lovely area to visit any time of the year.

We ate here once before and decided then to re-visit. We are glad that we did as our stay was quite a pleasant one. The four poster bed was really comfortable the evening meal was very tasty and the portions generous as was the very hearty breakfast. The owner is quite friendly and the service was good. We are planning... More

We had a weekend at a cottage near the Sloop in so ate there a couple of times of that weekend. The first time we sampled the chilli, it was lovely. The accompanying rice was also very good. The second time I had the lamb shank with mash and veg.. Absolutely beautiful! The others had steak and that was lovely... More

It was mid-afternoon and we needed a late lunch. We passed through Tintern with its stunning abbey but did not feel like facing the hoards of visitors there. Quite soon we came upon Llandogo and the roadside Sloop Inn. The Inn is situated on the river side of the road with its car park on the opposite side. At the... More

A lovely inn in a very pretty location. Our room was clean and spacious. There was an issue the toilet not flushing properly which the owner is going to attend to. Breakfast was plentiful if not a lot of choice (Full english only). Although it was great that the pub was being cleaned thoroughly with bleach, I found the overpowering... More

Just got back from 3 nights at the Sloop Inn and can report on a good weekend. Peter and his staff made us very welcome and the food was really excellent in all respects. Our room was a little tired and old fashioned but in some way that added to the charm of the Inn. There was plenty of very... More

The Sloop is in a quite pretty village with nice views. The room was quite big and clean, and, considering it was above the pub, the noise wasn't bad. The food was good, especially the chocolate brownie. The owners weren't very chatty, but overall a nice and quiet place to stay.

We visited the pub twice whilst staying in a nearby cottage over the weekend. The pub is dog friendly, dogs are allowed in the bar area (not in the lounge) but the bar area is spacious, comfortable and you can also eat in there. There is also a nice spacious beer garden, with patio & benches and a grassy area.... More
