But no parking! If you are lucky to arrive and one of the 2 x 20 minutes places is free you are lucky. Otherwise drive around until one is free otherwise you drag your cases from the free parking half a mile away. Nice room and sea view.no fan in bathroom. No aircon just a tiny noise fan. Tiny 2... My husband and I had two very good weeks at Le Grand Hotel at Pontaillac. The room overlooked the beautiful beach.- there was always something interesting going on - often watching the surfers. Breakfasts were excellent and so was room service. We had no car and the staff found out the bus times for us which passed the hotel. We... More

If you're looking for luxury better choose higher class hotel in Royan. This is classic 3* sea side French hotel. Location is perfect - right on the shore. Everything is satisfactory. Breakfast is French. We decided not to take breakfast (10 or 15,- Euro pP) - around there are so many cafes and restaurants. Size of the room was good.... More

The hotel in itself is situated perfectly. The decoration could need a revamp, it's getting dated and needs a kick. Reception and service are good but if you are expecting to get a good sleep, please, thing again. The walls are extremely thin, the doors that look over the beach might as well not be there, as we could hear... More

What a shame; a hotel on the promenade, bang in the middle with a fabulous view of the bay, but this dear old hotel desperately needs a refurbishment. On the one hand it's quite nice to stay in a traditional seaside hotel, on the other hand the careworn and careless attention to detail is sad at best. The bathroom unit... More

Nice hotel even if a little bit tired. Good location. But if you have a big pushchair it is very difficult and tiring to go to your room and leave the hotel. Not a hotel for a family with young kids but for a couple it is ideal. The beds are very good.

In a slightly tired hotel. Public areas and landings could do with refurbishment but room was modern and clean, bathroom spacious and comfortable bed. Staff were friendly, welcome and attentive. Good value and would stay again. Whilst out of town close to casino, we enjoyed lovely promenade walk along the coast to Royan- plenty of restaurants to choose aroun the marina

We spent two nights at this hotel, which really is in need to refurbishment. We arrived early, so went in to drop off our bags and got a very hostile reception. Were told we were too early to check in (which we completely understood). So explained we just wanted to drop off our bags and park the car. However, we... More

This hotel is impressively located facing directly on to a beautiful sandy bay. Our room was on the 3rd floor (there is a lift) with a sea view and a balcony from where we enjoyed an ever-changing vista of sand, waves, windsurfers, fishing huts on stilts and a lighthouse on the horizon. The room was comfortable and spacious and even... More
