Our studio room was comfortable and well equipped, with a very comfortable bed. Also, having laundry facilities was great. The large gable end window was our favourite place to sit and look out at the lovely well cared for pool - and the view of the beautiful river Dordogne beyond. Brian our host, was incredibly helpful and kind. He arranged... More

A very nice restaurant - samll menue because the food is freshly prepared and well presented. Friendly service with a big smile, nice choice of regional wine. Lovely views over the river from the covered terrace. The evening we were there, live music to go with a very good meal.

My wife and I stayed at Chapeau Melon for a week as part of a self-guided tour of the Dordogne region by bicycle. We had a wonderful time! Highlights were the location of hotel and restaurant with exceptional river views, and the very gracious and accommodating staff. In addition to travel bicycles to assemble and store, we are vegetarian and... More

Spent 4 nights here in self catering apartment with a terrace overlooking the Dordogne river. Very handy for visiting all the attractions of the area. Sarlat, Rocamadour and many beautiful villages very close. Also a rather eccentric 18 hole golf course 10 mins. away. Apartment spacious and well equipped. Attached restaurant serving excellent food. Staff( mainly English ) very helpful.

We were staying locally (in a Chateau for 22 people) so did not rent a room in Le Chapeau Melon but thought we had to write about the services we did use. Our first experience was of their tasty stonebaked pizzas which were delivered to our Chateau. All 22 of us agreed that they were great and we would visit... More

Staying at Le Chapeau Melon was a pleasure, from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. We stayed in a studio which had a double bed, single bed, sofa, kitchen, dining area and bathroom and was clean and comfortable (the fridge even had milk in it!). We checked in in the evening and while we settled in and... More

Very nice apartment looking out onto river, small but there was all 5 of us staying in there and kids spent most of the time in the pool! Adequate cooking facilities for basic meals. We ended up in the restaurant most nights, food great with a mix of regional and pizzas etc and live music at the weekend. Area is... More

We stayed at Chapeau Melon for about 5 days and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Brian and Sandra are really friendly hosts and are happy to help whenever. We stayed in a studio, however there is also a larger apartment which you can rent. The studios are really charming with comfortable modern furniture but still have original features like old wooden... More

We had a very happy stay here in October 09 on a leisurely motoring holiday from Bilbao to Calais. Le Chapeau Melon is a family-run restaurant with a few well-equipped rooms offering spacious and thoughtful accommodation. As well as a comfortable bed and shower room, our "studio" had a comfortable seating area, a table and chairs, and equipment to make... More
