This is the kind of place you want to keep secret—it it that special. I brought a small yoga group here earlier this year, and it was by far everyone's favorite place we stayed in Kerala. The owners and hosts Jose and Sinta and their children welcome you as part of the family, and the entire experience is warmly personal.... More

I would thoroughly recommend this fantastic find. Perfect location close to the Western Ghats. Wonderful accommodation, excellent food and outstanding hosts who join you for dinner. Trip along the river, forest walks, spice trails and opportunities to swim in the river or pool or laze in a hammock with just the sound of the birds. Spent two days here in... More

We don't normally write reviews but felt we had to for this place. We stayed for 7 nights back in Novemeber 2013 and so glad we decided to stay this long. We found it so relaxing and had plenty to keep us nicely occupied. What stood out for us was the hospitality. Jose, Sinta and their family were so welcoming... More

We arrived to a warm friendly and natural welcome at Dewalokam.....immediately the place enveloped us in its comfort and family atmosphere but with very good attention to details. The food is excellent and so well presented in a lovely dining room; the chefs cook to demonstrate the joys and diversity of Keralan cuisine and the general ambiance is very good.... More

Don't expect luxury, but expect somewhere clean, welcoming, relaxing and beautiful. The food was excellent, and the kitchen - in which you're able to see a cooking demo - is spotless. Perhaps the bathroom could do with a refurb some time soon. We stayed 2 nights, but think 3 nights here would be perfect.

Beautiful place, warm and engaging family, wonderful food. Everyone eats together and it works, The chef will show you how the food it prepared and he is very skillful. We think it's the best food we had in Kerala. Don't miss it. Relax, eat and watch the kingfishers shoot out from the river bank.

A beautiful, peaceful location with the Western Ghats visible in the distance. Swing in a hammock alongside the river with just birdsong for company, walk the plantation and farm, eat the most wonderful food, choose one of the original 100 year old cottages or modern accommodation - both outstanding. Prof Jose and his family are wonderful hosts. There's a pool... More

Stayed here for 3 Nights on our trip around Kerala, On arrival we found the Family very welcoming and friendly, We where offered a choice of 2 rooms, upstairs or in the section behind the main house, both rooms where very clean and tidy so we opted for the bigger of the 2 and settled in. Every night we where... More

Amazing discovery off the beaten track…the hosts (and their children) were genuine and wonderful. At this place you are invited into the lives of the host family and encouraged to make the most of it. We had a fab tour of the farm and spice garden and a uniquely warm welcome. But above all the Tandoor was the best we... More

We stayed 2 nights and it was not enough! After a busy sight- seeing 7 days in India we found Dewalokam to be a brilliant place to relax. We did not know what to expect from a "homestay" but this was more of a boutique hotel with very comfortable air-conditioned rooms. All of the meals were excellent, highlights being the... More
