well, there are several sorts of b and b - the very fussy, and dank and miserable, and the straightforwardly straightforward and comfortable and clean and welcoming and hospitable - like heath cottage. Give me a proper bathroom any day rather than a shoe cupboard with a shower tray 'en suite' that you can't swing even a kitten in and... More

Stayed here walking Offa's Dyke - right on the trail, perfect! Mary and John were wonderful hosts, very welcoming and interesting to talk too. They don't offer dinner here but John took us down to The Sun Inn, a local pub, which was absolutely fantastic, and picked us back up afterwards - excellent recommendation! The whole house is beautiful and... More

What a friendly hospitable place on a small farm just by Offa,s Dyke. Cake, delicious homemade jams and incredibly kind, interesting hosts. Can't recommend enough. On a small holding with sheep, chickens and cats. Beautiful old house in a great location

Me and two friends stayed here last week as an overnight stop on the Offa's Dyke Path. We were welcomed with tea and home made lemon drizzle cake, excellent. The rooms were immaculate and John gave us a lift to a distant pub for dinner as the local one wasn't doing food. Our breakfast was the best on the walk,... More

My brother and I arrived hot and exhausted after a day's walking on the Offa's Dyke footpath. We received a very warm welcome from the Proprietor's daughter Jackie, who gave us tea, fresh orange juice and some of her mother's magnificent home-made lemon drizzle cake. These we savoured in reclining garden chairs overlooking the smallholding and we were joined by... More

My stay at Heath Cottage was one of the highlights of my walk. Mary and John made me so welcome and the food was excellent. My room was lovely and comfortable and the whole cottage set the standard for comfort along the path. I am sure John will remember my delight at watching the sheep dog herding the chickens into... I cannot recommend Mary & John and their very special, very warm welcome at Heath Cottage enough. They have a great gift of welcoming & looking after people, whether you are on holiday, passing through, or walking Offa's Dyke.

If only there were 6 stars to give on TA… John & Mary would receive them all: one for a warm welcome (both telephone wise and in person), one for a nice and clean room, one for cup of tea and homemade cake – now that’s what makes a B&B THE B&B – one for the all you need-lounge, and... More

My boyfriend and I had the pleasure to experience the wonderful hospitality offered by Mary and John while staying at their beautiful cozy cottage last May. We were accommodated for a couple of nights and had the best time ever! Our room was very cute, comfortable and clean, as well as the spacious bathroom. Breakfast just outstanding, especially my scrambled... More

We stayed here on the first night of our week exploring North Wales. John and Mary were very friendly and caring hosts. We too were greeted with tea and delicious home made lemon cake after being shown a delightful bedroom looking out over green fields. It included a very spacious en-suite with rustic wooden floor. In the evening we visited... More
