Stayed October 6 & 7. Stewart - restaurant manager always pleasant, very professional and made our dinning experience exceptional. Front desk were friendly and provided excellent service. One of our most memorable stays in Scotland. Would most definitely return and recommend the Moorings.

Good hotel, friendly staff, with excellent location right on the Caledonian Cannal locks (Neptunes Ladder) just north of Fort William. Only niggle was having to pay £7 for our dog to stay overnight and she didn't even get breakfast! Book through an agent as the hotel direct deals don't compare.

The Moorings was recommended by friends who had dined there once but we opted to stay the night after a "magical" trip on the Jacobite steam train from Fort William to Mallaig and back. Our friends were right this is everything a Scottish holiday hotel should be, warm and welcoming with spacious bedrooms and an excellent restaurant where you looked... More

We have mixed views on The Moorings. On our first night we couldn't fault the friendly staff in the bar, the faultless service and the delicious meal. We did think the room was a little on the small side for the price but it was spotless with some nice touches - especially the bits and peices in the bathroom. Unfortunately,... More

We stayed for two nights at the fine hotel in a unique location. Nowhere else,I suspect, can you watch a full size RNLI lifeboat disappear before your eyes while eating breakfast as the lifeboat travels down the locks of Neptune's staircase on the Caledonian Cana,l then watch the Hogwarts Express cross the canal ten minutes later. This hotel has a... More

By the Caledonian Canal, this hotel has a good restaurant. I did not stay here but visited for meals. The bar menu is not huge but has a varied range of dishes. The food was execellent. I tried their pork, beef, and chicken and all were very tasty, and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. The service was also very... More

My cousin and I spent two nights here in August. We each had a single room. The staff were generally young and very friendly. The rooms were fine and the free wifi was easy to access. It is situated a few miles from Fort William and is adjacent to the Caledonian Canal. Just beside the hotel is Jupiter's Staircase, a... More

Having retired from our Motor Yacht the Kathllen Anne on the approach to Banavie Locks, we took advantage of that simplest of meal, "Fish 'un chips" at the Moorings Hotel. Originally 'hailing' from Lytham near Blackpool, I purport to be an 'officiando' in respect of that most simplest of meals. 'Harry Ramsden' eat your heart out. Absolutely magnificent - like... More
