Recently we held a family celebration and asked Wern Ganol to take a number of family members. Nothing was too much trouble for them - even accommodating a last minute addition to one of the parties. All who stayed there were impressed with the standard of the accommodation and the friendliness of the owners.

I stay here when ever I am working down this way and with staying away a lot with work this is my favourite b&b. The rooms are lovely, very cosy and comfortable and the breakfast delicious. The owner are always very helpful and nothing is to much trouble. It's great to go somewhere were they really want you to enjoy... More

Judging by the reviews on this site, you'd think that Wern Ganol is superb. Whilst there are undoubtedly some good points, there are also some not insignificant problems. But let's start with the good points: it's in a good location overlooking lovely rolling, green hills; the building has a lot of character; it's inexpensive; the beds are comfortable; the staff... Stayed 2 nights at Wern Ganol whilst touring the area. A warm welcome, great room and a breakfast to die for...super views too. Our hosts were very helpful with local information about how to maximise our time and we would highly recommend staying there.

Stayed over night with my daughter, son and his girlfriend. Had a warm and friendly welcome, rooms were clean and comfy, breakfast was very good and plenty of it! Also there was a fridge to use in the hallway which was handy... beautiful cat called HAGRID :-) Would definitely stay again!

I just spent two nights at Wern Ganol using it as a base for nearby Bike Park Wales. I had what can only be described as a perfect stay! Wern Ganol is easy to find and park at and very clean. The bed was comfortable, the room was nice, the shower had plenty of pressure and was warm. To top... More

Business trip, travel frequently around Wales and what a welcome break from the usual chain hotels in large cities. Fabulous big room, warm welcome and fantastic breakfast. Heartily recommended! Will be back!

We were a family of four adults and therefore, we were given this huge room. The place is converted out of an old dairy. It is at a height of at least fifty feet from the road. Therefore it has an excellent view of the surrounding countryside. The place is run by a couple Mrs & Mr Andrew Portlock who... More

Spent one night here prior to a Christening. The double room we had was large, with a huge comfy bed. One of the best night sleeps I've ever had. Nice small en suite, and lovely tea/coffee facilities. The down sides were minor, lack of a bath, a slight damp smell in the room, and the lighting was poor. Only had... More

Wern Ganol is the ideal guesthouse for anyone wishing to explore South Wales; there are many interesting places to visit in the vicinity, including the Big Tip Mining Museum, St Fagan's National History Museum and, of course, the city of Cardiff. Andrew and Carolyn are excellent hosts, and provided us with information about the area whenever we needed it, as... More
