Initially we were very excited to visit this hotel based on the reviews and the area. Being almost 6 months pregnant, our growing concern was mounting as the Zika virus was spreading rapidly throughout the Americas, and the list of affected countries seemed to be growing by the day. While we realized the virus had not yet hit Costa Rica... More

Who would not be concerned about this virus spreading over most of Latin America and already into the southern US now? Three days before your planned arrival you contacted us, saying that you wanted to cancel your reservation. We told you that we understand that you didn’t want to travel now and offered you 100% credit on the deposited money,... More

Luna Azul exceeded our expectations in every way. Super clean , gorgeous surroundings, wonderful rooms with large private terraces. Easily the nicest place we've stayed at in Costa Rica. The Swiss hosts are helpful and down right comical at times. Do yourself a favour and stay here if in the area

We had not originally planned to stay at Luna Azul, but due to some changes in our travel plans, we just happened to stumble upon it, and we are so glad that we did! This was our first trip to Costa Rica and the country is magnificent, and we greatly enjoyed all the places we visited. However, for us, there... More

We stumbled upon this beautiful hotel, which is about 3 kilometers outside of San Juanillo, which is a small, peaceful slice of Paradise that is owned and run by two very nice gentlemen - Rolf & Andreas. They were constantly taking the time to make sure that we had everything we needed, giving us tips and history about Costa Rica... More

Two charming gentlemen have created the nicest spot to stay in Guanacaste in the village of San Juanillo. Just a few tastefully done rooms with the most exquisite landscaping surrounding them. Around this is the natural beauty of the area including a delightful view of the Pacific. Excellent food with impeccable friendly service.

This hotel is really nice. We stayed in the room with the "Tree" which was beside the jungle. The hosts, Andreas and Rolf are two wonderful people! Right when we checked in at 2 pm, Andreas introduced me to the area as well as helped me book the turtle tour (we were in town for the last night of the... More

We stayed here for four nights at the end of our honeymoon and it was every bit the perfect place to relax. The lush garden, the beautifully presented bungalows and the fabulous sunset made it the ideal place to unwind after a busy couple of weeks. The food was also probably the best we'd had anywhere in Costa Rica and... More

I was told about this hotel by a work colleague and we booked a few days here for our first family visit to Costa Rica. The drive from San Jose was about 4.5 hours and the last 30KM or so is essentially off-road on an unpaved road - so using a 4x4 is a good idea! It is not hard... More

Our 3-night stay at Hotel Luna Azul was fantastic and I am already plotting my return. The rooms were spotless and luxurious, the grounds were gorgeously well-kept, and the food was delicious. We woke each morning to the sounds of tropical birds singing and were delighted to be able to watch iguanas go about their business from our windows. The... More
