How do I begin to describe our one of a kind, amazing experience at Hotel Luna Azul... How about we start with the incredibly warm and welcoming owners, Rolf and Andreas? These two could not have made our experience any more pleasurable and relaxing. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, the service was above and... More

We were in March 2015 on a trip through Panama, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. We couldn’t thereby have imagined a better place to relax for a few days than in the small hotel „Luna Azul“ with its seven Bungalows, beautiful restaurant/pool terrace with ocean view and well kept gardens. We saw during our stay also a lot of wildlife on... More

We came to Luna Azul not really realizing what we were going to experience. I can tell you we more than pleased. You are about 45 minutes off of paved roads. So, be prepared to drive on dirt roads that are definitely not smooth. This just adds to the experience. Once you arrive at Luna Azul, you are warmly greeted... More

This was our first trip to CR but will not be our last. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else. All of the reviews are 100% spot on. Rolf, Andreas and their dog Fino are perfect hosts. They treat their guests as family and could not have been more welcoming. Roberto who takes care of the bar and dinner service is... More

My wife and I found this hotel based on a recommendation from a friend, and it was by far our favorite hotel in Costa Rica.  All of the places that we stayed at prior to this were nice, but we felt that this secluded little resort was different from the rest.   It felt really private and peaceful, which was perfect after days of... An update to my previous five-star review of Luna Azul - same great hotel, terrific restaurant, warm welcome, and fabulous view of the Pacific. But now, there's wi-fi in the bungalows as well as the lobby/restaurant. A small thing that makes a great small hotel even better.

The Hotel Luna Azul is a lovely hotel near San Juanillo Costa Rica 8 miles north of Nosara . The owners are a pleasure to deal with and run a wonderful boutique hotel . The meals are fresh and delicious . The rooms are lovely with outdoor seating areas and outdoor showers . This is a must visit if your... More

We spent the last week of January at Luna Azul, our second visit to this little paradise in less than a year. The hotel is beautifully landscaped, all the casitas are very comfortable and have incredible views. The outdoor shower is very private and adds to the uniqueness of the property. Included in the cost of your stay is a... More

This lodge definitely has the pura vida! Absolutely loved the open, colorful Pacific architecture with the natural wood. The resort fits so well in the jungle it would not surprise me if everything was built with natural materials from the area. The outdoor shower was a unique experience. That was the first time I saw a monkey when showering :).... More

I came to Luna Azul after a travel agent booked me into a "lodge" which turned out to be a total dump, looking for an actual hotel to stay at for the night. When I arrived at Luna Azul, the manager first complained to my travel agent about bringing me to see a room at 9:30 PM, which yes, was... More

1. Check-in with a confirmed booking is possible until 10 pm. Our experience shows, that the later at night, the higher the percentage of strange people wanting to do a check-in. You came to see a room at 9.30 pm, that means, it was dark for 3 ½ hours already. You obviously checked out in the morning in Ostional village... More
