Called at the Gwysaney Arms Rhydymwyn this afternoon. What a find. It`s hard to imagine the difference in this lovely old building from what it was just a few short months ago. It`s a smart, welcoming and warm hotel. The owner - Robin - was a wonderful attentive host and we were made to feel very welcome. There were diners... More

As locals we were thrilled to see the Antelope hotel - now called the Gwysaney Arms reopen recently. Rhydymwyn desperately needs a decent pub and we were hoping this would be an opportunity for the new owners to breathe some new life into what has been a rapidly declining village asset. Sadly, the name is the only real change they... More

I was somewhat surprised to read this review, given that you rated your experience as 8/10 on the night, in response to my Manager's customer rating scheme. I apologise for the waiting times on Tuesday evening, which were due to problems with kitchen equipment. These issues have now been comprhensively resolved. There are a number of points in your review... More

Unfortunately this place has closed by the look of it - no idea what happened but maybe the Landlord wasnt able to come to an agreement with the owners on a price?..just me guessing .. If I knew where the Chef went - I'd go there cos his food was really delicious..

We tried this Inn for its food last night and although the prices are good, the quality of food was poor. The chatty landlord didn't listen to us when we asked for our pre-theatre meal at 5.45. He sent in the order as soon as we placed it and we would have had it before we were ready - except... More

I booked a meal here for myself and a friend after a member of my family recommended it. We certainly weren't disappointed. The food was delicious. The pate was lovely and obviously homemade. I had chicken and tarragon pie which was jam-packed with chicken - no scrimping here! The portions were generous and the prices very reasonable. Congrats to the... More

We were staying at a nearby campsite and on the second night went to the Antelope for our meal. We prebooked in advance, which meant we had to email them our orders a couple of days before. The large group menu (their were 24 of us) is smaller than the one on the website but still enough on it that... More

Had a lovely time here, for my son's 39th!! The family (all 9 of us) found the food delicious and the service efficient, friendly and relaxing!!! The kids, too, were offered better than the usual kid's menu! Well done Rob, the chef and Ellie and Neil (landlords) and, of course, the lovely waiting on staff, Paige and Ffion. Value for... More

We stopped here for tea on the way back from visiting Mold. There were 2 adults and 4 children in our party. The menu had a large choice and we were pleased with the selection. The staff were friendly and found colouring pencils etc for the children. However when the food arrived we were extremely disappointed. It was like it... More

I couldn't fault this place if I tried. My evening meal was superb and very reasonably priced. We were treated like royalty all evening and after a fantastic nights sleep in a lovely room we were greeted with smiles, coffee and a breakfast that sorted us all out for the rest of the day. Very friendly staff and a great... More
