We stayed here with a large group of friends who were attending a function in Blandford. The bar food and staff were first rate and the breakfasts freshly cooked for each person (did take a while but really worth the wait). On the Friday they even laid up one of the dining rooms just for us so we could have... More

We went to this restaurant last year, the food was really good but the service slow. We went the same time this year, (When the great Dorset Steam Fair was just getting ready) and they had run out of food. Their excuse was that they had been taken by surprise by the number of customers, funny that as we were... More

This is a charming inn in a lovely village with a pleasant garden. However, chaos rules and ultimately it begins to frustrate and annoy. The breakfast, whilst good, took an hour to serve, because of total lack of organisation. The rooms are small, and for the price you pay, you might expect more creature comforts thrown in. The creatures were... More

Very impressed with the quality the inclusive breakfast was fantastic and made the price (which seemed expensive at first) worth paying on top of this the staff were very accommodating and extremely helpful. we arrived late on our first night and we had missed the restaurant opening times the hotel manager went out of her way to make us some... It was with some trepidation that we stayed the night over a busy long weekend. Some reviews were disturbing. Yes it is pricey but other than that we very much enjoyed our stay. The new management went out of their way to be helpful and the room was very clean. Breakfast was excellent and very filling. All up a very... More

We stayed here overnight in April, as soon as we walked into our room there was a musty smell which was very strong in the wardrobe. The room looked clean at first but on closer inspection was filthy, the up shade on the light was full of dust, there mirror on the dressing table had finger print marks on it... More

This is a very nice looking Country Pub/Hotel. It was a bit pricey for what you get. We stayed two nights. Very clean and tidy. Walls are a bit thin and the floor boards creak a lot and I mean A LOT! If you want a lay in and the neighbours are up then you won't get much rest. If... More

Easy to find as just off the main road about 20 miles from Salisbury. Large car park, separate hotel entrance. Stairways and rooms are low: take care. Few steps to contend with. Helpful staff and excellent breakfast.

Stayed here for a friend's wedding. Very pretty. Had a nice cider outside in the garden at the front - nice pond and nice atmosphere. A lovey room. Nice bouncy carpet, well-equipped room, nice décor and very clean. Everything was explained well. Got back ok late at night at didn't need to fiddle about with doors etc. There was everything... We booked a meal here for 9 people. We live in the village and we have used the pub and eaten here before. However, this is the worst experience we have had at The Anvil. We booked but didn't need to as the whole place was empty (maybe that should have warned us) We were given sheets of paper for... More
