A last minute booking the morning of the day we wished to stay in the area gave us a heavily discounted price through booking.com at The Anvil. In truth the price at £20 was hard to believe but what happened after our arrival is hard to forgive. First of all the Manager was not aware of our booking using the... More

We have just returned home from a lovely two night stay at the Anvil. Its a lovely old fashioned pub with comfortable (dog-friendly) rooms. The staff were all incredibly helpful and happy to talk to guests about the local amenities. We were part of a large group, a shoot part (7 of us in total) who ate in the pub... More

Stayed at the Anvil Inn for the weekend with a group of friends. All of us were impressed with the service, the rooms and the friendliness of the staff. Breakfasts were excellent. Would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it.

I haven't stayed at the Anvil Inn myself(it was my brother, on a business trip). However, I must let the world know that the proprietors(I am sorry,I don't even know your names..) are first rate!!! They went out of their way to help me organize a small surprise for him yesterday, as it was his 25th birthday. Basically, I telephoned... More

We stayed here with a large group of friends who were attending a function in Blandford. The bar food and staff were first rate and the breakfasts freshly cooked for each person (did take a while but really worth the wait). On the Friday they even laid up one of the dining rooms just for us so we could have... More

We went to this restaurant last year, the food was really good but the service slow. We went the same time this year, (When the great Dorset Steam Fair was just getting ready) and they had run out of food. Their excuse was that they had been taken by surprise by the number of customers, funny that as we were... More

This is a charming inn in a lovely village with a pleasant garden. However, chaos rules and ultimately it begins to frustrate and annoy. The breakfast, whilst good, took an hour to serve, because of total lack of organisation. The rooms are small, and for the price you pay, you might expect more creature comforts thrown in. The creatures were... More

Very impressed with the quality the inclusive breakfast was fantastic and made the price (which seemed expensive at first) worth paying on top of this the staff were very accommodating and extremely helpful. we arrived late on our first night and we had missed the restaurant opening times the hotel manager went out of her way to make us some... It was with some trepidation that we stayed the night over a busy long weekend. Some reviews were disturbing. Yes it is pricey but other than that we very much enjoyed our stay. The new management went out of their way to be helpful and the room was very clean. Breakfast was excellent and very filling. All up a very... More

We stayed here overnight in April, as soon as we walked into our room there was a musty smell which was very strong in the wardrobe. The room looked clean at first but on closer inspection was filthy, the up shade on the light was full of dust, there mirror on the dressing table had finger print marks on it... More
