The accomadation was clean and well presented. It is a listed building and our room was small but this did not spoil our stay. All the staff were polite friendly and helpful. The food was excellent with a good choice of food. The meat was all local and very good. and good value for money. Good location to Matlock bath. Tram... More

A friendly inn with some very well kept and drinkable ales . Splendid. The bar service was supported by very good food and decent breakfast. The accommodation was a tad cramped but adequate for purpose and options to alter are bound by the historic status of the premises. A very pleasant stay indeed.

Decided to try this place for lunch. Friendly pleasant staff and cosy pub. Had two steak pies chips and peas and although it was nice it was nothing special and we certainly did not feel it deserved the price of £10:95 per meal. The pastry was soft as if it had been warmed in a microwave and the chips were... More

Booked in at jug and glass for just 3 nights stay for a course I was attending at bakewell just 30 mins away. After looking at other places I decided to book in at jug and glass. So glad I did ,the welcome was warm and refreshing, staff were friendly and Jason the manager went out of his way to... More

We arrived on Saturday lunchtime to a warm reception, from staff and locals alike. A great day spent walking locally, then back to the Jug & Glass for drinks and dinner - again really friendly staff and locals. The food was great. The rooms were clean, tidy and well appointed. Breakfast in the morning was good, which we wolfed down... More

I had two nights stay recently and was disappointed to find that the place simply did not match up to my visit last year. The food was unimaginative with no evidence or fresh herbs, vegetables or gravy not made from a packet. The food seemed to have been reheated. Since there was no evidence of fresh vegetables or herbs I consider... More

Really friendly, genuine people, lovely pub with food that was always good and in several cases superb. Best of all it was so, so clean. The old J&G had a more lived in feel which you could decide to call charming, but it took an effor sometimes. This is professionally run and really doe the village proud I'd say.

I really don't like to give a bad review but this was really disappointing. A group of 10 of us went out for sunday lunch here based on the reviews as seen on tripadvisor. We were very much welcomed and the pub is cozy and tradition. The menu looked really nice, even good vegi options! Then it all went wrong.... More

My wife & I spent two excellent nights here. The hospitality by Gill, Roy & their staff was first rate added to which our room was comfortable & warm. The selection of real ales was really good and the food was excellent, with a superb lasagne plus a 'hanging' chicken kebab that were to die for, well done to the... More

Stayed here for 2 nights recently and found the inn to be welcoming and of good quality in both b&b and food. It has a certain rustic charm and the ale, dinner and breakfast were all of good quality. The staff were very pleasant and efficient making it a very enjoyable stay. We were in one of the rooms in... More
