It was our first time in Africa and this lodge fully lives up to its reputation. From the rush-hour journey across Nairobi, through the light aircraft flight over dramatic landscapes, to our first ride with our wonderful guide Joseph on the exciting journey from the airstrip to a rocky hilltop in the middle of nowhere, we could tell that we... After 3 nights at Saruni Mara 2 weeks ago we had high expectations coming in Samburu, and this 2 nights in Saruni Samburu exceeded all our expectations. Our friends and my family (with 3 children in small age) we really enjoyed our stay here The first impression after climbing the rock with the landrover and reaching the main entrance of... More

A second visit to beautiful Saruni to enjoy the whole of Northern Kenya from the top of a hill. The ever changing landscape is best viewed at dawn when Mount Kenya appears through the mists as the sun rises. As noted in previous reviews, in the dry season the wildlife moves towards the river in Samburu national reserve, however the... More

We recently spent three magical nights at Saruni Samburu Lodge, the entire stay was fantastic. The rooms were magnificent, the food delectable, the game drives unbelievable and the service outstanding. Francis was our guide for three days and he made the trip to Africa worthwhile. He was so knowledgable and sharing of his life and culture.

This was our first destination in Kenya and what a spot for three nights! After about one hour from the local airstrip on the typically African roads, where we had been met by our guide Joseph, he drove us up a rock! Literally, Saruni Samburu "camp" sits on a rock overlooking a "plain" and hills of Samburu. A little African... More

Thank you very much for your excellent review and for such detailed description of the experience. I have taken note of the failure to bring you wake up call and the issue of the small room fridges not begin stocked adequately. We'll make sure this does not happen in the future. One more about the road to the National reserve:... More

We stayed in Saruni Samburu for 3 nights and then to Saruni Mara for 3 nights. This is absolutely the best safari experience we never had! The lodge is located on the the top of a beautiful rocky mountain, exactly in middle of nowhere: very peaceful. The room (chalet nr2) was very big, and the view breathtaking. The private dining... Thank you very much for capturing so well the spirit of "sarunity". And thank you for noticing the hard work that goes into making this - as you correctly says - more than a great holiday, but a life enriching and often a life chaining experience. More

Saruni Samburu was the first stop on our Kenyan safari honeymoon adventure. When we arrived, I could not believe how breathtaking the views were! Set literally on a rock, this secluded camp was a great way to get away from hustle and bustle of our normal city lives and hectic wedding planning schedules. The rooms are luxurious, massive is the... More

Thank you very much for your excellent review and for your positive words about the service we provide. I'm sorry you didn't see as much wildlife as many of our other guests see: there are moments through the year (luckily few) when it's more challenging to find wildlife. I agree with you that if the vehicle is shared with birdwatchers... More

My Wife and I booked a trip to Kenya, going to 3 different Camps throughout the country. This was our second stop. We were driven from Laikipia to Saruni Samburu and went through beautiful Farm land and country into a more desert type terrain. The drive into the camp had me wondering what we were heading into. Compared to what... More

Thank you so much for this fantastic review. I can;'t express how grateful I'm that you found the time to be so detailed about the Sarunity experience. I'm glad you liked to the food too: it's Italian, like me… :) And thank you for capturing the essence of who we are, what we do and why. We look forward to... More
