This property is also a restaurant First impressions count....not fag ends and leaves in the doorway (same at other door that we left by). Barman had no joy of doing the job he was doing....just going through the motions..a smile please, would be nice. Nice ambience and a good table which had been reserved but broccoli soup lukewarm, sauce on... More

We visited the Crown for a family Sunday lunch and all chose the Carvery roast. All of the meats were delicious and you could have a choice of two or three if you wanted. The homemade Yorkshire puddings were very tasty but there could have been a more imaginative selection of vegetables. We were a bit disappointed that there was... More

Paul & I gave just returned from our Secret Escapes night away. We chose The Crown as it wasn't to far away. Our deal included a 3 course meal for 2 , overnight stay and breakfast all for £95. I can honestly say that this is one of the best we've been to. The accommodation was fabulous , very shabby... More

Stayed here a couple of times now. The comfortable rooms are very ornate and set in an annexe away from the pub/restaurant. They are neat and tidy with a good size walk in shower and have character, not your standard fayre. The real jewel in the crown is the food. I can only say fantastic. If you live within 30... More

Just returned from a Xmas Lunch with a group followed by B&B. Everything one could wish for, a charming 16th Century inn with mod cons. Lovely lunch with 16 others. Pleasant attentive staff who were most helpful even though they had 190 covers in the evening, (seemed like a lot of Xmas parties) they still managed to find time for... More

We stayed for one night on a Secret Escapes package, which proved to be excellent value. We received a very warm welcome on arrival. The accommodation is in a purpose-built annexe and our room was delightful - spacious, well-furnished and spotlessly clean, with good lighting (I hate gloomily-lit rooms!). Hospitality tray, iron and board, quality toiletries and big fluffy towels.... More

We stayed here last Saturday with our two sons and their partners. We were made to feel welcome the moment we arrived. The rooms were a good size, very clean and warm with very nice bathrooms. The food, included in our deal, was delicious and plentiful. The starters were huge, almost a meal in themselves. We can certainly recommend the... More

Stunning setting in a really well extended old pub. My steak was so tough that it was impossible to eat any of it but no one bothered to ask why it was being returned chewed but uneaten. Shame because I was really hungry after the starter turned out to be tiny. What a pity such a beautiful place selling nice... More

Stayed for one night on a secret escapes deal. Excellent value for money and had full choice on the main menu. Food at lunch and dinner was really good, also had a very good wine list. The rooms are all really well decorated and had shower accessories and tea and coffee making facilities. Staff were all friendly and we were... More

Booked through secret escapes for the final night of a week long break with our 5 month old son. The room was spacious, clean & nicely decorated. Our deal included dinner which were three courses of choice all that were delicious. There were a good selection of wines & beers & we enjoyed a sample of the Oxford Gold &... More
