It was a warm March Sunday with the family. Well cooked traditional lunch with a good choice. Recommeded if you are in Reading area although not exceptional. Prices and portions good pleasant gardens friendly service.

I stayed at the Crown at Playhatch for two nights while attending a conference at the University of Reading at the end of March 2014. I was really pleased with my room (Room 5, "Hampton") - it was very tastefully decorated in a shabby chic style, with an excellent shower and very comfy bed. The Inn has plenty of free... More

I love this restaurant because of the food and the atmosphere. The menu has a variety of choices, catering to different tastes and I have always had a good experience with the food. It tends to get very busy but if your table is not ready you can wait at the bar. The atmosphere is normally buzzing as it is... More

I stay at The Crown whenever I am on business in the Caversham and Reading area. Being away such a lot it is so nice to spend the night in hotel that you know is really smartly looked after and spotlessly clean. I don't normally eat in restaurants when I'm out travelling and so can only comment on the rooms.... More

My partner and I visited the Crown Inn for a birthday treat for a night, my partner found a groupon deal which included dinner, breakfast and a nights stay. on arrival at the hotel we were greeted by the friendly staff who led us to our room, a quant little chalet type room which is separate from the main building, it... When we arrived the pub was full and convivial. Our table wasn't ready, despite our booking-there were only two of us....Unfortunately the food is "prepared" by someone who has neither a love of or interest in food-not a chef. Ordered Thai fishcakes with wasabi dressing-what arrived were potato cakes with mayonnaise dolloped on top- whoever dished these up had never... More

When we arrived, our table wasn't ready and were advised to have a drink at the bar. Why should we pay for drinks when the restaurant can't organise itself properly? The standard of the food was unacceptable. My friend and I both had the 'Thai' fishcakes to start with. They looked nothing like Thai fishcakes and didn't taste like them... More

Ate here with friends recently and we were all quite Disappointed. This review is just to highlight the shortcomings so improvement can be implemented. It was lunchtime and not so busy, infact only another table of 4. The welcome wasn't the friendliest baring in mind I'm spending £90.My girlfriend had Pork belly which was 90% fat( a bit stodgy) our... More

We stayed in this hotel on a groupon. It was for one night with dinner and breakfast . It is a very nice old coaching inn in a little village. The location is great for visiting little towns and villages on the Thames. The restaurant is very good pub food. We had three courses and all were very good. The... More
