Six of us ( three couple) took advantage of a Secret Escape deal was was very good value and my husband and I tagged on an additional night at the normal rate at the beginning because we were in London on business and didn't fancy hacking back up to Leicestershire only to head back down to the Oxfordshire/Berkshire border the... This delightful inn consistently delivers on quality of food and service. We had a table for 5 and all had Sunday Carvery which was delicious. The meats were succulent and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. Deserts were good portions and with a South African flavour on some of them added a unique touch. On the downside the draught cider had... More

Just had a night here in a lovely room, beautifully decorated in a simple style. Set at the back of the restaurant so no noise.Food was gorgeous and staff could not help enough. We will be back door more!

The Hout Bay salad (both large and small) were main courses and both considered excellent. The Churchill Burger was tasty (burger plus egg, bacon and cheese) and the chips in particular were freshly cooked and large and succulent. Coffee was fine. We were seated outside in a courtyard with comfortable wicker seats, I'd recommend you find them. Lots of easy... More

We have just got back from a lovely stay at the Crown Hotel which was booked on a Secret Escapes package deal that included dinner, a night’s stay and breakfast. Food, room, staff: the whole experience was fantastic. The pub itself is a really nice old building. It is a bit of a higgledy-piggledy mishmash of buildings of different ages,... More

We stayed here in May 2014 and was amazed when we were shown into our room which was in the converted stable block. We had a 42" TV a double shower kingsize bed with excellent boutique decoration. all rooms have a table and chairs on a mini veranda

Stayed for one night on a Secret Escapes dinner/bed/breakfast deal, which was excellent value. (We were bumped from a different hotel when Secret Escapes over-booked, but never mind). The rooms are basically furnished - no easy chairs - but bright, comfortable and clean, and there is a little patio outside each one where we had a drink in the sun.... More

The crown is has lovely decor and the food is good. However, the food and drink is slightly over-priced for what it is which means I rarely go back. The service can also be on and off, some are very helpful whereas other couldn't give a toss.

We (2 couples) stayed one night, Saturday 31.05.14 on a Secret Escapes Dinner, B&B deal. We were warmly greeted and quickly shown to our rooms, similar to chalets but with ample privacy and with lovely views over the garden. The room deco, layout and quality was very high for an Inn. Only negative the night was extremely warm so would... More

We stayed here for two nights on a Secret Escapes deal, which made it super value. The room was lovely and felt perfectly big enough, even though the photos online make it look small. Don't stay here to watch TV, though (why would you?!) it's fixed to the wall in a weirdly high position, so you can't look up at... More
