Me and my partner went for a meal we had a drink out side first because they couldnt seat us right way. Thats fine. We sat at 815 we ordered starters quickly then mains. We waited ages for our food then they came out with our mains. My partner looked confused at the waiter and said we havent had our... More

I have been to the Crown on many occasions as it is conveniently situated and is nicely refurbished. The experience is however generally disappointing and today's was pretty par for the course. We had a chicken dish, very dry and not very tasty. Eton mess for pud was pretty good. But the service is indifferent, nobody asked us if we... More

Recently went to the Crown Inn for Sunday lunch - family of 6. We ordered from the main menu... both steaks we ordered were overcooked (well done and not medium rare). The place was busy, so I understand staff were under some pressure, however the service was NOT good - we had to ask multiple times for drinks, and the... More

The Burger was overcooked and consequently dry and pretty tasteless. If you fancy one then I suggest you specify exactly how you want it, I didn't and ate the mistake- I'd assumed they knew how to cook a burger! The Seafood Paella was apparently tasty. You have to collect your cutlery and any condiments you might want, not something the... More

Had a lovely 2 day break in this 17 th century Inn the food was excellent including the Breakfasts the room was reasonably sized but could have needed a couple of chairs as nowhere to sit except the Bed, the room was very hot but being on the ground floor, we did want to leave windows open at night ....... Booked on Secret Escapes which made the whole stay an absolute bargain. Had I paid full price I wouldn't have cared because it's great here. Rooms are a good size and style. Food was respectable and had a interesting South African twist. The setup for breakfast could have been a bit better but the full English was well made with... More

Just returned from a relaxing break at the Crown, the break was booked through 'Secret Escapes' and represented excellent value, We could not fault any aspect of the break, the room was excellent, the menu imaginative and diverse, we chose from several options on the menu and enjoyed all the choices, breakfast was excellent, good beer and wine selection, the... A great find, not far from Henley/Reading in the small village of Playhatch. Plenty of parking and a nice friendly reception. Room was what looks like a converted stable block, wih nice small table and chairs (in privacy) at the front of the room. Room reasonable size with nice comfortable bed, and nice linens/towels. Room safe. Tea/coffee making if you... More

We stayed here for one night on our minimoon and absolutely loved it! Beautiful old inn in countryside with stunning locations for walking all very close by along the river - and of course only 15mins from Nirvana Spa! They left us a bottle of champagne in our room. They have 10 rooms separate from the main inn, tucked away... More

The rooms are in a row at the side of the premises and are all refurbished to a good standard. I don't like the "drench" shower with no other attachment but apart from this the quality of the room was great. Dinner was excellent with an amazing steak and breakfast was very good except for the coffee which tasted foul.
