What a great experience in the jungle! Very professional! A little effort to get there from San Jose, but well worth it. What a great night with the sounds of the water and jungle. We can't wait to go back.

Spent two night at the lodge and had a blast. It is very rustic with few extras. The rooms over look the river with beautiful views of the river and canyon. I would return. Also a great trail system that will take you to waterfalls, zip lines, pools etc are at your door. The food was cooked by our guides.... More

If you want to feel the peace, hear the live through your ears, this will be the best place to go, also with a lot of adventures to go, such as canopy 4 lines, walk in the woods, and then finish what you started two or one day before, the rafting.

Our overnight rafting trip with Rios Tropicales was prefect. The trip rafting was great fun! The lodge was perfectly set on the river and total isolated from everywhere. Our accommodations were more than expected in such a remote area! We felt we were in great hands on the river with our guide and had a safe and fun time. The... More

I love this lodge and the overnight trip on the Pacuare with Rios Tropicales. I really can't justify the added expense of the other lodge/overnight trip option on the river when this is so delightful. The overnight trip is such a treat. They don't have to rush down the river like the day-trip. You take your time and can pull... More

Last year, I had to find a jungle location along a river in Costa Rica for my work. I discovered Rios Tropicales and had a remarkable time. The employees and guides at Rios are wonderful, thoughtful and skilled. The scenery and ambience were spectacular. Now, a year later, I am planning on a return trip to Costa Rica, this time... More

My husband & I recently stayed at Rios Tropicales for their 3 night/4 day package in mid-November 2013. We had a really great time! The property is beautiful. We had a deluxe room on the 3rd floor of the lodge building right near the river, and it was perfectly lovely. Our guide for the majority of our stay was Ronald... More

We did the 4 day 3 night tour with Otto as our guide and it was amazing. The river was so beautiful and scenic, straight out of a movie. It was lovely to sleep in the open air lodge with the sounds of the river and jungle. Our guide Otto was not only a great guide on the river but... More

We did the 3 day, 2 night package with our family (3 kids ages, 12, 11 and 9). We had some travel delays on our way to Costa Rica and Rios Tropicales was very responsive via email. We arrived at the main office which was very nice. We felt very comfortable leaving our suitcases and rental car at the center.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Our multi-day trips treat you to an exceptional adventure vacation experience combining rafting on the Pacuare with a stay at our remote "Eco-Lodge", tucked in the rainforest on the banks of the river. A trip of pure magic, unsurpassed beauty, wildlife and ravishing rapids; Pacuare is the quintessential tropical river. Along its course lay several densely vegetated gorges, which shelter, jaguars, ocelots, monkeys, sloths and an incredible variety of birds. Also found within these gorges, is some of the best whitewater in the world. "at its lodge, hammock-filled, thatch-roofed huts, offering dorm and honeymoon style rooms, surround an even larger thatch-roofed lodge net to a gurgling waterfall linking the huts to the lodge’s open-walled dining room, bar and reading room are bamboo-railed boardwalks that make wearing anything but river sandals sacrilegious. Don’t get so comfortable in the reading room’s hammock; however, that you miss the cocktail-hour bell; in true jungle fashion, all apres-paddle drinks are served in coconut shells." (Paddler magazine article, jan./feb.1999, edb). ... more   less
