The food was very tasty though the chilli beef stir fry was over-cooked (the beef had hardened whereas the vegetables were soggy). Desserts both good, loaded with sugar and very naughty! If I was being picky I would say that the sticky toffee pudding was actually a cake with toffee sauce. Very nice al the same. Excellent service.

We enjoy eating out in the various country pubs that are near us in the area. The Peacock is currently 'up there' as one of our favourites. The food is not fussy but instead hearty pub food that is of excellent quality and cooked fresh to order. We have been there several times over the summer and have always come... More

Went here for lunch a couple of weeks ago. Food was very good - chicken in tarragon cream sauce and my husband had a very large piece of cod with proper fries. The chicken was succulent and I was told the fish was also very good. Someone commented on the vegetables being over cooked. In fact as far as I... More

We stayed here for a night as we were visiting friends locally for a party. What a great find! When we arrived we were made to feel most welcome by our hosts Rachel and Will. The Inn is a listed building with all the old character charm and quirkiness that comes with it. Exposed beams, low ceilings and no ensuite... More

Stuck in Bildeston for somewhere to eat midweek with four friends, we were delighted to find the Peacock just a mile or so up the road. We'd seen it looking very popular at the weekend, which is always a good sign. Without doubt a typical country pub, the reception was friendly when we recced it, so we made a booking.... More

Typical beamed country pub in the picturesque village of Chelsworth. Had diner here on very short notice, managed to get a table although relatively late sitting...its was a Saturday evening though.. The Peacock has a good reputation with the locals and the place was certainly busy, good reception from staff, very smiley, very attentive. However i was disappointed with the... More

It was just recently that I found out my Great, Great Grandfather originated from the pretty village of Chelsworth so this lovely inn with its sun soaked, floral beer garden will be a real magnet for me in future. The Peacock Inn is just a stones throw from the River Brett on the B1115 which passes through Chelsworth. I have... More

On arrival we were made welcome from the owner Rachael. The rooms are excellent and have all the amenities you need. The breakfasts were excellent as so the evening meals, which we had every night. We were lucky enough to have good weather so we were able to enjoy the lovely garden. We would definately recommend The peacock.

Were recommended to go here by our B&B hosts. Easy to park, gardens nice, as always very popular with the smokers, but no problem for us. Inside a very traditional pub decor, with usual brown tables and chairs, nothing much to write home about. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Nice menu, I had pub menu and chose haddock, my husband... We spent the weekend in Suffolk and thanks to our stay in the Peacock in Chelsworth,we had a fabulous time.It is such a welcoming, charming and friendly place.Unfortunately we did not have dinner there, but only stayed in the B&B.The rooms are delightful. The breakfast was wonderful, full English, salmon and scrambled eggs etc.We will go back and this time have lunch or dinner there.
