This B&B is quite special. It is tucked away on a hillside, a stones throw from a babbling brook and an unusual landscape of ancient trees and slate hillsides. The room we stay in was beautifully presented and comfortable. There were lovely touches, such as fluffy White Company dressing gowns and decanted sherry to make us feel welcome and special.... More

We were looking for somewhere special but as far removed from a traditional B&B as we could find and Hafod y Garreg ticked every box. Upon arrival you quickly realise that you are going to be house guests rather than customers thanks to the welcome from Annie & John. The glass of wine on arrival is a lovely touch but... More

If you are looking for a place to stay that is truly stunning, amazing and chock-full of character, book one of the two rooms at Hafod-Y-Garreg. We spent one night at this unique B & B, the oldest inhabited house in Wales. Off the beaten path and set amid glorious countryside, we felt transported into another world. After a tiring... More

The house itself is a magical place that fills you with awe. It dates back to 1402, when it was built as a hunting lodge for Henry IV, and the detail of the restoration and antique furniture ensures that these distant days never feel too far away. My girlfriend and I stayed here on a wet and windy December night.... More

If you like to stay somewhere different from bland, sterile hotels then this is perfect. Starting with the drive up the bumpy farm track and parking next to Rosie the goat you know it is going to be something special. The welcome was wonderful, house and bedroom packed with character and the fact you are halfway up a mountain just... More

A wonderful house surrounded by fabulous scenery: the perfect place to go if you really want to get away. The food was delicious and is well worth having one evening of your stay. The hosts were extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly. Highly recommended for a unique get away.

We stayed here at the end of our honeymoon and were very happy with everything! The meals were so delicious you will feel like you are at a five star gourmet restaurant. With over 600 years of history under its belt the house has a character and charm that has to be experienced. If you are looking for a unique... More

This place is located in one of the most amazing pieces of countryside in the world and there are many fabulous (if often confusing) walks to be had in the area. The farmhouse has goodish rooms (one of them very medeaval in nature) with good bathrooms. The problem is that the people who own and run this place think they... More

We've just returned from a wonderful stay at this quirky little b and b in Wales. The location is amazing. You will find this lovely old stone building nestled in a valley up a stony farm track not far from the Black Mountains. The house is surrounded by flowers and birds fly down to the little pond. Inside you step... More

We have stayed here each July for the past 4 years as a base from which we attend the Royal Welsh Show. It is quite special, remarkable in its history and quirkiness and amazing history. Annie and John are very special delightful hosts. I have no doubt that we will return again and again.
