If you are planning a trip to Lascaux, which is an absolute marvel, then the place to stay in Montignac is the The Relais du Soleil d Or which is on the main street of Montignac and like many older buildings in France the exterior is somewhat bland, but enter the doors into a garden paradise. Our room was very... More

This hotel is reasonably priced and has a wonderful pool and gardens. The car park is secure. The bistro is very good value. Stay in the main hotel not the annex. The hotel is in the town and all facilities are within walking distance. The town Is ancient unspoilt and beautiful.

The hotel was fantastic. A nice room and then a leisurely breakfast outside on the patio followed by a swim in the adjacent pool. A perfect start to our trip to Perigeux and a visit to the world famous Lascaux Caves.

From the exterior, one would think this property was really special. Unfortunately, the interior does not live up to the facade. Even the public areas are not impressive. The pool is nice, but not all that. The staff is friendly and helpful however. My room was a decent size but showing lots of wear. I would prefer not to return.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a cycling tour with Freewheel Holidays, this was our second hotel en route, frankly I wished we could have just kept cycling, the room was tatty and in need of a complete re-furb, the wall paper had been patched up here and there and it just looked grubby, even the lounge area... This hotel presents elegantly to the street, & looks very impressive as you park your car, & then walk through the garden & past the pool to the back entrance. Inside the hotel, the picture becomes very different quite quickly. Our room was shabby, cheaply furnished, cold & with a faulty shower. It had also been used by smokers. It... More

Very Fronch hotel in the picturesque, beautifully traditional town of Montignac. I would love to give it an excellent rating but I can't. The reception staff were lovely although they did try to fob us off with one of their stinky cigarettey rooms. We settled into a fresh room which was great but it creaked, the whole room creaked, the... More

If you are lucky enough to stay at The Relais du Soleil d'Or then you will feel as though you have struck gold. If you are looking for something modern and anonymous then this hotel is not for you. What you find in the heart of Montignac is a truly French establishment which gets its priorities right -a wonderful amabience,... More

We went here as four couples and enjoyed a pleasant stay here. The town of Montignac is beautiful with lots of small alleyways and streets with a good local community. The hotel is in the centre of the town near the river and has its own, well concealed swimming pool to the rear of the property along with a secluded... More

This is a nice country side hotel, close to the world heritage Lascaux caves, right in the center of a traditional village. Quiet, with a nice pool and good rooms. While the hotel is recommendable, the upscale restaurant was very disappointing, but there are many options around. The staff was a bit overwhelmed at breakfast time. Friendly welcome overall.
