It's worth the short drive from Keswick / Braithwaite for a drink and the views but not the food. We visited on a Sunday evening and ordered a haggis bake (which in fairness was okay) and a venison burger. Unfortunately the burger was served complete with grease-proof paper; we are not sure how this could be missed whilst it was... More

Lovely old inn and a great starting point for walking the fells round the Newlands valley. We arrived after a walk taking in five of the Wainwrights and were ready for a pint in the bar as soon as we walked through the door! A good selection of beers but we picked a bad day as two of my favourites... More

The hotel isn't to far from Keswick main town, about 10 minute drive, lake nearby, lots of lovely walks including one which we took to a nearby village (about 40 minute walk) following a river. Lots of parking, your on a hill and over look the valley, its beautiful. we managed to get a good night and watched the sunset... More

We loved this Inn. Informal Pub with great food and fantastic Ale. Superb location overlooking the fells and Newlands Valley. Very scenic. Because the Inn is a little more remote than most makes it a more magical venue. Plenty of parking is available. Food is very good. Plenty of choice from the menu and the 'specials board' Traditional Pub fare... More

Four of us went for an evening meal. Food ok, but nothing to write home about, would probably not eat here again. Great place to drop in for a drink though. Really good atmosphere and nice to be able to have a game of pool. Friendly staff.

This is a good old inn set in a quiet lane in the heart of the Lake District with fantastic views and an endless number of walks that can be started from the door. It is a very busy place with numerous daytrippers and service is efficient rather than lingering. Food is standard pub food but perfectly good and just... More

Overnight stay in this out of the way old coaching in. A little hard to find especially when the postcode is wrong and the sat nav sends you on a wild goose chase. So I would recommend that you get your directions from the hotel once in the area. The room we had was clean and comfortable. The food was... More

8 of us were here for a birthday meal and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. Starters and mains were superb, and only 2 of us had space for dessert. Staff lovely plus fantastic views. We were also able to take our dog. Superb !! Plus a pool table - what's not to love

We had a clean, good-sized room with an enormous bathroom. It has a beautiful location with spectacular views. It is 5 minutes by narrow road to Keswick. Popular with hikers. Some paths are visible from our room. Friendly, young staff that serves good food. Breakfast is scheduled for 8:30 to 9:15 but cereal yoghurt, juice, and coffee are available by... More
