a modern and nice hotel with a real swimming pool in front of Mekong. Air conditioning, nice modern decoration The restaurant is not at the level of the hotel and it is not very good. It is better to stay on traditional simple Laos dishes

Don Khong has no major tourist attractions. It is a very quiet island, in respect to atmosphere totally different from the nearby party island of Don Det. On Don Khong you can do little else than cycling and enjoy the beautiful views of the Mekong. For me a very attractive destination but I do not think that applies to everyone.... More

We booked & pre-payed a river view room and informed the hotel that my husband does not manage stairs. We were shown a first floor room in the old part. Not possible. We ended up with no river view in the same area on the ground floor with a view of the school. Not quite what we had dreamed of.... More

By far the nicest place we stayed in our month in SE Asia. New construction, tasteful, a comfortable bathroom with an actual bathtub! There was sawing going on constantly on their new building (the one with the pool), which was annoying. However, we enjoyed relaxing on the island so much after a few hectic weeks of travelling, we didn’t want... More

Looking over the pool to the river, made a lovely view and setting for this hotel, especially for seeing the beautiful sunrise in the morning over the Mekong. Good sized rooms were nicely furnished and had style. Breakfast was included in the price and offered eggs, good coffee, toasted baguette with butter and jam, fruit juice drink, nice flap jacks... We only stayed here one night as part of a Mekong tour through Southern Laos and Cambodia, and though I wouldn't say it was amazing, we enjoyed our stay. We were in a double room in the old block, so the view wasn't anything to write home about, but the room was nice and comfortable and the bathroom very grand.... More

We where lucky with our room as it was in the new wing overlooking the Mekong. The room was very large with a nice sitting area by the window overlooking the pool and the Mekong. The room was on the first floor and the sunrise was just amazing. The hotel was reasonable clean. The restaurant is also overlooking the Mekong... More

We had two nights here and thoroughly enjoyed them. We arrived after dark and the staff were welcoming and efficient. What a surprise through the patio doors when we woke up early the next morning. The swimming pool was right outside our door and there was a beautiful sunrise over the Mekong. The river was just beyond the pool and... More

This is a nice hotel, the rooms were nice and clean and the staff were helpful. However, it has a sister guest house (Pon's Guest House) about 100 meters away that has the same facilities (with the exception of the pool) at a fraction of the cost. Both the Pon Hotel and the Guesthouse restaurants have identical menus (they are... More

Pon Arena is a very nice facility in a delightfully sleepy community on an island in the middle of the Mekong. The rooms are large and tastefully decorated. There's adequate hot water. Many of the rooms have wonderful views of the river from their balconies. Don Khong and Pon Arena are great places from which to explore - many people... More
