I visited the Royal Oak on a Sunday night with my family after a long day of walking! The pub was really warm and cosy and we were served drinks at the bar promptly. The menu had a lovely selection of food and it was hard to choose what to have! We shared a generous portion of nachos to start... More

After a lovely walk around butter mere lake we spotted THE ROYAL OAK served food. So we returned in the evening for our tea. We arrived 5.45 & advised food does not start til 6pm. A table was not available for my husband, 2 sons and I to sit together- however a local couple happily moved to make it possible... More

Spent a lovely 5 nights here recently. The owners and staff were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Traditional, good pub food with the bar and restaurant very busy in the evenings ( it was half term though) so worth booking. Children welcome and there is a substantial discount if a child under 16 shares the adults room.... More

Nine of us stayed here and were delighted with the hotel, the service , the restaurant and in fact, everything made this a memorable stay.It rained a lot and the management always saw that our clothes were place in a drying room so that they were ready for the following day.

We came to Braithwaite again this year and used the services of the Royal Oak. The staff were welcoming, always curtious and served you as fast as they could despite it being extremely busy. The beer, the infamous Jennings 'Snecklifter', was up to the usual high standard and very popular. The food was lovely and we ordered and received our... More

We stopped off here for a meal after we'd done a walk up & around Skiddaw. It's obviously a popular pub but we timed it right because we got a good table & we didn't have to wait long for our meals. I had the giant Yorkshire Pud & my partner had the bacon chops. He said they were nice... More

I have stayed in Braithwaite on holidays at least five times over a period of 25+ years and have always called in to the Royal Oak for both meals and drinks, but in my opinion their standard of customer service has dipped to the extent that I seriously think I shan't be returning. When I was in the Lake District... More

Great welcoming pub with super food. Good choice on the menu and portions are generous. Delicious puddings too. New Year's Eve firework extravaganza not to be missed. Also has accommodation which is perfect for walkers.

Second stay here. The room was up lots of stairs. The first time I had a much nicer room The pub was busy, food good and a lovely open fire. Like the fact that they offer smaller portions. The breakfast was the best of the trip. Staff very nice. We got a price of £30 each ( Winter rate) which... More

We were in keswick for just 24 hours and was recommended to try this Inn. It was busy with a good atmosphere and is obviously very popular. The drinks are well priced and the food excellent. The menu caters for the very hungry, not so hungry and kids. We had food from the not so hungry but still had plenty... More
