We were staying at a holiday cottage in Bishop Wilton, so this was our local for the week. We went for drinks a couple of times and sat in the beer garden which also has a grassy area for children to play. We also ate there twice in the evening. The food was good, good sized portions. On the Sunday... More

We planned a walk starting in Fangfoss so that we could sample The Fleece Inn at lunch having previously read the Tripadvisor reviews. Arriving at about 12.30pm we found The Fleece surprisingly quiet. We ordered some drinks and studied the menus. As we were planning a main meal in the evening the sandwiches with chips and garnish were ideal. Both... More

We were not actually staying at The Fleece, but in a cottage only 5 minutes walk away and The Fleece was the nearest, indeed the only pub in the village. The Fleece is your typical oldy worldy country pub in a village that is ideally suited for days of exploration into the city of York, to the coast or beyond.... More

Had this place recommended and it lived up to expectations. The fish and chips were just like being at the seaside, my wife had the sausage and mash and she loved it. Our friends had the steak pie which was to die for and he likes plenty to eat.

When we booked our lodge we didn't realise this little gem was within walking distance so it was an added bonus. The food was great and generous portions so we walked the long way home. We were fortunate enough to make it to a Jazz night they have every last Sunday of the month which was good too if you... More

We were staying locally and having been recommended this place we visited for Sunday lunch. I was really impressed with the price £13.95 for three courses! So at that price we couldn't turn down all three courses and I'm glad we didn't, I enjoyed homemade pate to start which was delicious served with a very tasty chutney whilst my husband... More

Let's get this straight right from the start, The Fleece is an Inn that offers good, honest food at reasonable prices it is not a fancy eatery and thank goodness for that! We had a great meal here whilst staying in the area and will definitely be back. My haddock was the nicest I have had for a long time... More

Four of us went for a meal there today. We all enjoyed our meals which were tasty and plentiful. Puddings were wonderful, I couldn't manage it all. Prices were reasonable and staff were very pleasant. I nice end to our holiday.

This was my local pub when rented a property from owners in the village. Used to eat often at the pub . Can be busy but worth the wait. The comments about unfriendly landlord are daft. If busy you are informed if the fact. Food always home cooked and portions very large. Good value for money and friendly waiting staff.... More

As a party of 11 we drove from hull on a recommendation and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was welcoming by the team and locals. The food was delicious and plenty of it. We will most definitely be coming here again it was a perfect family Sunday lunch.
