Nice traditional country pub with a friendly welcome from the bar staff. Food was average pub food, nothing much to write home about. They serve nice chips but the chef's take on Stilton sauce and pepper sauce left a lot to be desired.

First ate there last year and have been back about five times so far. Why? The food is decent proper food with good vegetarian and fish options and you don't need a second mortgage to eat here. It's a pleasant and cosy pub, unpretentious but charming nonetheless. Vegetables are included in the price of mains which is a bonus as... More

We were staying local and wanted to try The Fleece having passed it many times but having never been in. A good choice of starters and mains from the menu with specials and desserts from the blackboards. The homemade steak and mushroom pie and sausage and mash were excellent with veg bought out separately. Good range of wines accompanied with... More

Called in at lunchtime during the week. Very presentable bar area serving CAMRA Guest Ales; I had Wold Top (an East Yorkshire brewery near Driffield) which, at £3 per pint, I thought very reasonable. Enjoyed sitting out in the Beer Garden which is divided into 2 parts by a high brick wall. The rear half is grassed and has a... More

We stopped off without a booking and were made so welcome even though they were busy. Excellent value for money and would return without any hesitation. Lovely staff, atmosphere and food. Although it was a Tuesday night they were very busy and we had an enjoyable inpromptu evening.

We were cycling on the Way of the Roses and arrived to a warm welcome. The pub also had a place to store the bikers safely and our bikes were put away by the owners father. The Fleece Inn was comfortable and the food was good. We had a good evening meal in the pub and it had a good... More

This gem of a traditional pub is just 1 mile off the main road between York and Bridlington and well worth the minor detour. We called in on our way back from Bridlington for an evening meal and were very pleasantly surprised by this pub which oozes atmosphere in this little village. Traditional English menu with a specials board. We... More

Really attractive archetypal English village pub .Rooms , clean and tidy and separate from main body of the pub so quiet . Welcoming owners and staff . Full of diners in the evening , always a good sign . Breakfast superb . Can't wait to return ,would heartily recommend .

Clean, comfortable, ground floor accommodation, good home cooking and good ales. A warm welcome from helpful friendly staff await visitors to this well run traditional pub in a beautiful village setting. We will certainly stay at The Fleece again soon.
