Far from everything but once u find it it is majestic. Lovely location on the Douro river valley. Serene, relaxing, bucolic, and the best massage I have had in a long time. Including the ones I get in the US weekly. The best place for a honeymoon or if one just wants to get away from it all. We rented... More

The location is stunning, definitely worth the 2hr drive from Porto (beware that the directions online are misleading). The rooms very comfortable and the house full of interesting decorations. I like the concept of this hotel a lot, however the service does not match up to the five star decor. Although the general staff were nice, the managers were not... More

We spent a couple of days at the Romaneira while travelling from Porto through the Douro valley, and would have loved to have stayed there longer. We travel a lot and are lucky enough to stay at some beautiful places, but this was one of the most romantic and relaxing I've ever been to. The location and views are stunning.... More

While the hotel's location is beautiful I wanted to point out a couple of things to consider. Location: the location is remote. It is two hours from the airport. Once you drive through the estates' gates it is another 20-30 minutes to get to the entrance to the hotel. Once you are on property you are going to stay on... More

We have just returned from a wonderful weekend stay at Romaneira. It is simply perfect. From the beautiful rooms filled with unusual and extraordinary artefacts to the stunning setting, and discrete but attentive service, there is not a single thing they haven't thought of. There are so many little touches which are surprising and exciting, I don't want to spoil... More

We generally stay at Relais Chateaux hotels when traveling in Europe and I would have to say of all the Relais Chateaux hotels in the last 12 years, I would say this was the worst. Don't get me wrong, it was a stunning location and the service was very attentive. Location - difficult to get to but that adds to... More

I recently spent two nights at Romaneira, and it is an incredible place. First, its location in the Douro river valley is sublime--gorgeous vineyards on hillsides that dip down to the river's edge, with Romaneira perched about half-way up the mountain, overlooking the river and hills as fas as you can see. It is a totally different kind of experience.... More

Romaneira is idyllic - in the very top grouping of our favorite places ever, and we travel extensively. Service is excellent - highly trained yet extremely friendly and personal at the same time. The staff make you feel as if you were their only guests - a feeling accentuated by having each meal in a different indoor or outdoor venue... More

It takes some time to arrive in Quinta da Romaneira, but all the good things in life are worth waiting for! It's not just a boutique hotel, it's an experience you have to try once in your life! I say once, because it's not cheap, but if you have the money, or you want to do something stravagant, you'll not... More
