The Almedalens Hotel is a beautifully kept building with a homely B&B-like atmosphere. I'd checked in there at short notice as my original accommodation had fallen through, and was happily surprised to find a lovely, comfortable place to stay the night. I stayed in a room with a gorgeous view out to the sea, and over breakfast the following morning... More

The Almedalens Hotel in Visby is located just outside the old city wall, with its front facing the Baltic Sea. The view is great, the hospitality of very high level. I had a spacious room at the backside of the hotel, with a view on a nice park and the city wall. Visby is a great place too.

We stayed here for two nights (Thursday and Sunday night - either side of a wedding on the other side of the island). As we were three couples we got a great feel for the rooms available (staying in 5 different rooms in total). The location is ideal - sea on one side, park and city wall on the other.... More

We had the family room facing the old wall - ask for it! You wont regret it! Splendid view, with a breathtaking sunset! Its central and right by the Almedalen park, giving it a great location. The owner and the staff was ever so helpful giving the stay the little extra. Always a smile and the best tourist information we... More

Just stayed at the Almedalens for two nights and I think it might have been the best place we've ever stayed. I will admit that it's not perfect, and I can imagine how some of the reviews on here who said they could hear things in other rooms felt, but our experience was excellent. We took advantage of it being... More

The rooms in the new wing of this hotel have wonderful views across the Almadalen park to the 12th century city wall that surrounds the old medieval town of Visby. The ocean is right across the road on the other side. This situation makes the hotel extremely quite yet the old town is just a two minute walk away. The... More

Enjoyed the stay in Visby during the Medieval week -13. One big reason was the great hotel. It is next to Almedalen's park where we sat in the afternoons with our baby (mom exercised and dad read Ipad, which reached the hotel WiFi). You can do great pram runs on seashore, or even run around the city walls. We also... More

spent one of the worst nights ever anywhere. Loud music nearby in the afternoon. At night you hear all noises from plumbing in other rooms - you are even warned in the Hotels recommendations to take consideration as it is an older buiding - none of which is mentioned in their advertising. I could hear mobile phones ringing in other... More

We had the most beautiful room with a view of the sea, a view of Almedalen (important in Swedish politics), a fireplace and a 4-poster bed. We were impressed with the room as it was. Then I walked into the bathroom and saw it! Oh! What a bathtub! Big. Egg-shaped. Rolled edges. Lovely, lovely. Needless to say, I spent several... More

Family driven hotel with high standard, excellent breakfast and a fantastic view both ways, to the old walls around Visby and out to the sea. We were taken care of in the best way at this hotel which really is a home away from home. Our group, called AWEKK, travels all over Europe, and this is a place we will... More
