A friendly, cosy pub. Visited a few times on holiday and there was always a good selection of beer, which where all very well kept. The veggie burger I had was excellent as was the Risotto my daughter had. Proper food for veggies, not a vegetable lasagna in sight!!

Been here a few times as its only 20 mins away from where we live we normally stop after a dog walk, great spot on the way round to stop, can get busy outside on warm days but can normally get a table, we had 2 pints of Peroni and a ham baguette and chips, really enjoyed it, lots of... More

Always stay when visiting Copley Décor in Leyburn. War, friendly establishment bursting with character. Nice selection of ales and the rest! Had my usual steak and ale pie to see how theirs compared. It did! Smoked salmon and crab salad was lovely as was the full English breakfast next morning. Must take the wife there for a weekend.

Like a previous reviewer, we love this pub. We've been visiting this part of the Dales for 15 years now and can honestly say this pub has the best kept beer in Swaledale for a good few years. The food is consistently good and value for money when compared with some other pubs in the dale that purport to be... More

On arrival found a typical Yorkshire pub, a bit shabby but OK those outdoor types who are happy with a bit of old and tired. Nobody behind bar but a man soon appeared who did not greet us and when told we had a room booked said "name" and told us to follow him. Let us into our room and... More

Although we have visited a few times and often have quite a wait for food it's always very good. Our last visit we sat in the restaurant and ordered two ribeye steaks cooked medium rare. Lots of places often get this request wrong either too rare or too well done but this place got it just right plus the meat... More

Great country pub. Well kept cask beer, traditional and characterful, no TVs (thank god!), dog friendly, no mobile phones (yay!) and great staff! Just great! -- especially when the locals folk musicians turn up!

Paid a couple of visits to this pub whilst walking in Swaledale. Made to feel welcome and enjoyed bar food and a Sunday lunch. Food ok although the beef a bit tough. There was a power cut during lunch, the waitress brought candles to our tables which made it very cosy. Great beer and good crack at the bar, didn't... More

i am sad to be writing such a negative review. The service was not great and the waiter had to be reminded to come and take our orders. When the food came the kids Bolognese was lukewarm and not very appetising. The kids chicken burger came without bread and the chicken was battered thicker than the chicken itself. The adults... This was OK. Not especially good value as the hamburger was £12.95 - wow, and I am afraid I didn't believe it was home-made. Generally I find that if a place will not serve the burger pink, it's because the box it came in said not to do so.... Dessert of Apricot Treacle tart but heavy on pastry and probably... More
