The hotel staff and manager were very welcoming as there was 10 in our motorbike party, we had all booked for a weekend to enjoy the local sights. On arrival the manager welcomed us all and wasn't put off when 8 bikes appeared outside the hotel. One member of staff even suggested a lovely riding route which we all did.... More

Don't worry when you first see the hotel, it's in a 1960/70's old military research base, very drab and dreary but inside it's very well fitted out. The rooms are excellent but ask for a sea view which is amazing, the other half of the hotel overlooks the car park. The location is excellent right at the end of Portland... More

We went here purely for a Saturday night dinner, our initial impressions were that we had taken a wrong turning into a Military base! Which in fact it once was. Despite the harsh exterior a good attempt to modernise the decor had been made. Although it is quite 'corporate' looking, and needs some softening of the stark interior. The staff... More

On arrival I was really disappointed by the look of the outside of the place however on entering the hotel I totally changed my opinion. It was fresh and modern and had the most fantastic views. There are some fantastic walks nearby and you can ask for a gate key from reception to get easy access to the clifftop. The... More

We went there just for the Spa. When we arrived we were told that a therapist had called in sick so there would be no treatments for us at all. We had checked the day before their online booking system and there were plenty of time slots available. It was very disappointing since this was our only reason to go... More

Dear Guest, I am sure you can appreciate whilst you may have looked at our online booking the day before your arrival and saw there was availability for treatments this is not a guarantee. Unfortunately, when someone falls ill this is something out of our control. We had two other therapists on duty who were fully booked and as such... More

As many have said before this hotel is a conversion of part of an old Admiralty Building built in the 1950's. It actually occupies an extension added to the original building in 1978. It has been converted very well and now feels and looks like any other purpose built modern hotel block. Sure it is still attached to the old... More

After our family had suffered a recent bereavement my dad had asked me to find a hotel in Portland where we as a family could stay to carry out mums last wishes of having her ashes scattered on the Island. As my husband and I have spent many holidays in Weymouth over the years we initially looked into staying there... More

nice hotel - good sized and clean room. great food. friendly staff.... a big issue though - it has no spa, i.e. no swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room or anything like that - just treatment rooms! maybe we should have researched a bit deeper before booking, but i got to say we feel a bit swindled!

We arrived on a Friday night and received a very warm welcome. The room was big, clean and a lovely shower and bath. Breakfast was promptly served and good. We had a delicious evening meal on Saturday night, with a good atmosphere in the restaurant. All members of staff were enthusiastic and helpful. A delightful surprise. Thank you. We hope to come... Have just returned from weekend here. Before going I read reviews which mainly stated how lovely the hotel was and not to be put off by the outside. The building was very ugly and the area desolate and run down. You enter the hotel via the back entrance and there is no outside area at all. It was very impersonal... More
