Booked this Inn as was visiting friends in Whitstable and the P.Inn chain we'd normally use was fully booked due to there being a Harbour Festival so we looked further afield and came across the White Horse set a few miles away in the charming village of Boughton-under-Blean. We arrived just before 9pm, booked in and declined the offer of... More

On a quiet village street. Comfortable but needs a lick of paint. Our room had an audible air conditioning unit outside the window and a temperamental electric shower. But otherwise fine. Very friendly staff and delicious breakfasts. WiFi worked throughout. Very reasonable price for a two night stay.

For what a room costs per night I was expecting far more than this. The rooms are small and in desperate need for refer bushmeat let alone a clean. Bed linen had dirty marks on it. Worse is that it is attached to a pub and while great that those who had too much stayed the night rather than driving,... More

Booked the Inn at the last moment before checking Trip Advisor. Four of stayed during the Whitstable Oyster Festival. Let's do the good first. Fantastic location, absolutely lovely village with friendly villagers. Nice pub with garden and with friendly staff. Clean bed linen. Breakfast was very good. Now the bad, I was told it would be £140 for two rooms... More

I was impressed with the twin room I shared with my pal, couldn't fault room or bathroom, staff friendly and helpful and the restaurant food was very good. Lovely gardens to sit in too. We came for the Whitstable Oyster Festival and a two night stay ,but wanted to stay a few miles away from the actual venue and explore... More

Having booked a room for the three of us for Saturday 26th, I received a phone call at 22h00 (just leaving Canterbury theatre), saying that my credit card was refused and I would lose the room. I was told that they were looking to contact me all day although no missed calls showed throughout the day... In giving the hotel... More

This Inn is perfectly located for travel around Kent. The food is absolutely delicious, we had two nights here, four of us on the first night and us two for the second night. So we sampled six separate meals overall, all of a very high standard and scrumptious. The service was excellent and friendly. There is a large car park... More

We and our dog were made very welcome. The dog was able to stay in our room and they reserved a table in the corner of the restaurant where he had a bowl of water while we ate dinner. The room was clean well equipped and quiet. Dinner was very good, a step up from pub grub without being gastro.... More

Drove down to Boughton-under-Blean straight from Heathrow and got to the Inn early - 10h00-ish. Little confusion with the booking as they thought we had children with us, but quickly rectified and given our room which allowed us to shower (nice and hot) and change. Also offered us breakfast even though we were past breakfast time. Our room was at... More

The accommodation was cramped. The toilet didn't flush correctly, the shower got blocked and the room generally was unclean. It was a very hot night (and not being able to open the window due to traffic noise), there wasn't any air conditioning or a fan. The garden was untidy and the hanging baskets on the front of the pub were... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The White Horse in Boughton-under-Blean is a historic inn and restaurant with more than its fair share to offer guests. Not only is this ancient coaching inn mentioned in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, but its location in a glorious village surrounded by hop field lined walks to Mount Ephraim Gardens and the site of The Peasant’s Last Revolt recommend this excellent stop before one even ventures inside. As you may well hope, The White Horse is beautifully traditional inside, with roaring log fires, low-beamed ceilings and a cosy, intimate feel. Meanwhile, outside beautiful landscaping has turned a pleasant pub garden in to an Englishman’s dream. Our locally sourced British food has elevated The White Horse to gastropub levels with our chefs combination of creativity and talent, providing guests with the opportunity to enjoy high level food in the most comfortable of atmospheres. Sunday lunches take place weekly and jazz suppers are a regular occasion featuring award-winning vocalist Christine Tobin. Located in a village but within easy reach of the channel crossings and many local attractions such as Canterbury Cathedral, Dover and Leeds Castle, golf courses, beaches, nature reserves and zoo's, the White Horse is an ideal place to stay to explore the wonderful Kent countryside. And if walking, there are many stunning walking routes on our doorstep. We welcome walkers, cyclists, dogs and families! Our 13 bedrooms are beautiful with everything you would expect from a modern hotel, including free wi-fi, extensive parking, disabled access, restaurant and bar. The combination of the pub’s history and first-class service guarantees return visits. ... more   less
