Not far from San Josè, located in Sarapiqui region just about one hour and thirty minutes away from the capital of Costa Rica. Quiet place, nice birding, beautiful grounds, nice swimming pool and wonderful rainforest reserve with easy trails to walk, easy two nights to have a great joy here.

Only stay here if you are ok with the most basic of accommodations. This is not quaint and rustic, this is run down, in urgent need of repair to most areas an a thorough clean up to the entire property. I stayed 3 nights as part of a school trip. Hotel was prearranged and we were given standard rooms. No... More

There is something to be said for a resort that requires you to walk across two suspension bridges to enter it. It is an experience that will stay with you forever! I'm a green girl so I hope they start a trend. The grounds here are absolutely stunning. The rooms are gorgeous with cathedral ceilings and private porches. Everyone fell... More

We were driving back from Mirador Prendas, way up the dirt road from Sueno Azul, and stopped for lunch. We asked if we could use the pool before lunch and we were given clean towels and use of the pool. We had a lovely time and a nice buffet lunch on the patio. Food was OK, nothing special, but the... Beautiful hotel on the Sarapiqui river. View egrets and anhinga birds on the trees in front of your balcony. wonderful air conditionned rooms, Wifi in the lobby and dining area. The hotel is on a large well cared for estate with great pool and riding area.

I knew this was going to be cool when we had to walk across a bridge to get to the hotel. No cars come to the hotel. We were with Trafalgar Eco tour and everything was managed for us. The grounds were beautiful, and you are in the middle of the jungle. We enjoyed nature walking, horse back riding and... More

We spent two nights in this hotel. It's quite a long way on a gravel road from the main street to the hotel. The hotel was quiet. Barely any other tourists, maybe 20 in total and that's how it felt. A lot of constructions and the staff could have been nicer. We had a room with glas which actually turned... More

The first thing you need to know if you are driving to this hotel is that you're arrival may seem like an episode of Top Gear. You have to negotiate two suspended bridges over the river - only saying as once you're over the initial surprise it is quite an experience. The hotel (which hosted US 'I'm a Celebrity') was... The long drive from the road along stony tracks and ancient single track suspension bridges brought a certain trepidation as to what we would find at the end. The hotel is set out as terraces of single story rooms in some extensive grounds around a lake and besides the Sarapiqui River. It is a little decrepit and in need in... More

Some trepidation before our 2 night stay based on previous reviews but we had a great time. Sure, the place is a little tired in places but to us that didn't detract and gave the resort a certain charm. The room was large, clean and comfortable and we had no hot water issues. The food was ok but nothing special,... More
