I don't know how you would find this place if someone didn't take you (I was on an OAT tour), and I really had no idea where I was except a) Costa Rica, b) rain forest. But I was captivated. My room was in a traditional styled building, and though there was no a/c, it was quite comfortable. Reasonably spacious... More

This was rustic lodging in the rain forest. There was no air conditioning in the room but the fan was very effective at the time we were there and we really didn't have the problems with bugs in our room. The room was clean and neat and the bed was comfortable. The wifi was free but available only in the... More

The lodge is very authentic and made me feel like I was truly part of the rainforest. We saw some lizards and heard other creatures making noise right outside the porch door that faces the rainforest. With that, be prepared for nature. There's also no way to keep the bugs out. After all, you are right in a rainforest! If... More

This is a very unique place situated along the Tirimbina Biologlical Reserve. The rooms are in small buildings (8 to a building). There is a safe, but be careful of the key because we lost ours. No air conditioning but there was a ceiling fan. Beds were comfortable. The infinity pool was the best because of the setting which was... More

Fabulous location next to the rainforest research center. Beautiful grounds. Small pool with an infinity edge which is really pretty. Restaurant & bar (though you sometimes have a go into the restaurant area to ask someone to serve you in the bar. Caution that room for two people wanting two beds is that there is a queen or double size... More

Just by looking at the construction of the hotel itself tells you a lot, the wealth of information at the hotel premises with the indigenous burial grounds offers you a great chance to learn about the Costa Rican indigenous groups that inhabits these lands centuries ago. Having Tirimbina Biological reserve right next to it is a great asset, just block... More

Stayed three nights. Absolutely a good choice for your stay in. Costa Rica. Great food and service. No air conditioning but the ceiling fan works very well. Friendly staff all helpful. Pool for cooling off not swimming.

I guess if you're looking for a very simple place to stay, this may be a good choice. We traveled with two kids, ages 14 and 16, and they don't have rooms that accommodate four people. So we had to get 2 rooms. The bedding is old, no wifi to speak of except for in the main building. This was... More

This is such a charming and unique lodge, which makes it fun to stay there. First of all the buildings have thatched roofs. You walk into your building and there are approx. six rooms all on the same floor. The rooms are quite large with a back porch area with nice benches. We had a walk in shower and a... More

The thatched room lodges are round, and contain several spacious, uniquely-shaped rooms with private sitting areas outdoors. The infinity pool was nicely landscaped, and there were a couple of nature trails on the property. Buffet-style meals were varied and healthy, and served in an open-air room near a bird feeder. The only drawback was the spotty attentiveness of staff--we couldn't... More
