This place was better than we expected. Room was nice, with AC. I loved having access to the hiking trails across the long canopy bridge - they are great. We only stayed one night. Went on a guided night hike - saw a lot, but the group was too large. We had dinner - very good (be sure to make... More

The rooms were average for Costa Rica with the exception .... they had AC and hot running water! That made up for the modest accomodations. What really made the difference between stayin here instead of the upper scale resort up the road was the tours and especially the guides .... they were wonderful! We went on the evening bat tour... We stayed 3 nights at La Tirimbina and could happily have stayed longer. The rooms are simple and have all that you need - good bed, great shower, fan and a lovely seating area overlooking a garden full of birds. The food at the restaurant was very tasty. We went on the bat programme, a night tour and the chocolate... More

Tirimbina is an excellent choice for those wanting a jungle experience that is readily accessible and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. The rooms are basic, but clean and well priced for the type of accommodation on offer. The restaurant is really a canteen serving guides, resident scientists as well as guests; it doesn't offer a choice of food,... More

I have been to CR over a dozen times, traveled all over the country--and stayed at Tirimbina for the first time this last trip. It's AMAZING! The location is incredible--if you want to get an idea of what the rainforest is like stay here! We did a night walk and even though it was raining it was fascinating and beautiful... More

I went to Tirimbina Lodge because it was very recommended. Actually I did like the trails and the facilities, the rooms were according to what an eco lodge would look like. The service was fine and the things at the store were not over priced. What I really did not like was the food at the restaurant, it has not... More

When arrived at Tirimbina, talk about depressing. All the staff on my way in (I saw at least 6 people) were so miserable and even when I smiled or said buenas or adios, nada. Was wondering if someone had died and when I asked the receptionist what on earth was going on and why the staff were so miserable, she... More

Dear Catfee: I respect your opinion about your experience at Tirimbina, but not share all. First disrespect the people call them miserable, for your interpretation of the absence of a smile in a person, do not talk good from you. Second, we are a non profit organization, so your assumption of "all about the dollars" is wrong. All our income,... More

The tours at Tirimbina are the main reason to visit. They are just outstanding. The guides and staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Getting a chance to get into the rain forest and see the native plants and animals is just great. The rooms are just what you might expect. The big thing is that they're well maintained and have A/C,... More

Only stayed one night here. The rooms are a little outdated, but have AC. There is a fairly long walk from the parking lot to the hotel, but this puts the rooms in the forest, which adds value much greater than the effort for a fairly long walk to reception. Saw lots of birds from the patio behind our room... More

I stayed here as part of a school group for two nights. First of all, the tours that we went on were great and all the guides are really fantastic. You must do the night hike! However, the lodging left a little to be desired. The first evening around nightfall my room became home to many flying insects I was... More
