My room had a double bed and bunk beds, no bedside table, wire shelves, no hanging space and very poor lighting. It was so dark in the room that I could not read. The floor was stone. The bathroom had a bright light, but the shower had little water pressure with poor volume of water. Shower curtain was not clean.... More

Clean basic rooms - we had one of the cheap ones with bunks and it had all we needed - others might expect more but if you come for the room you've come for the wrong reason it's the grounds that make it special and the large amount of trails that as a resident you have access to - saw... More

This is a private reserve that promotes conservation and eco friendly. David on reception is very helpful. One of our group was bitten by a bullet ant and they were very helpful. Lovely hikes on very good paths, have to cross a long expanse of suspension bridge, which is not for the fainthearted. Food is line up canteen style but... More

I really enjoyed this place, don't come here expecting the Marriott, but if you expect great food, great walks/hikes and friendly staff this is your place. If you like the outdoors and are ok with basic and clean rooms, this is it. Wife and I hiked for two hours in the jungle and pretty much had it all to ourselves. We... More

Great staff. Wonderful service. Birds and wildlife out the front door. Lots of recreational options just a short drive away. Central and easy area to get around. Would go back! Only draw back was high cost of dinner on site and its lack of creativity. Good nearby tico places to eat.

We spent a night here, because it was on our way to Lake Arenal and it was convenient, otherwise we wouldn't have. The lodging is very basic - judging by the reviews written we thought it was better, so we were a bit disappointed. The beds and rooms in general are very basic and they could be more clean. They... Yes, Tirimbina Lodge is a wild place. Not in the sense that there are wild parties and the main clientele consists of dubious characters but in the sense that it is located on the edge of the rainforest. Even for reaching the reception (and your room) from the parking lot, you have to go through a lush garden/forest that is... More

We went on the chocolate tour that are available for reservation at the lodge - and it was amazing. We got to see the entire process, from the fruit to chocolate bars- and taste warm chocolate "the mayan way"

Beautiful gardens, great people. The room was clean but average. We felt secure and comfortable. We had a vehicle so the parking was excellent. The breakfast was a nice Tico style. We didn't eat dinner but I hear it's great too. The chocolate tour was very informative and interactive, our girl leading it was super.

We arrived at the airport at 11:30 and managed to stop at the La Paz waterfall on our way to TIrimbina lodge. We spent the following day exploring the rainforest on their well marked trails. We spotted a Howler monkey and a two-toes sloth and quickly became experts on spotting the Strawberry Poison-dart frogs and the green and black poison... More
