If it weren't for Alex Martinez I'd say don't bother with this place, but in fact he is extraordinary. I'm even thinking National Geographic should feature him in a story. Since he first built his place Dole has opened a pineapple plantation and as a result there are monstrous trucks zooming by all the time. The immediate surroundings, however, are... More

We stayed in the self-built cabins at Alex´s place for two nights. Not only is his garden a sanctuary for birds of all kinds (not to mention the iguana and the sloth up in the trees), Alex is also a fountain of knowledge which he is excited to share with all his guests. We ate the delicious breakfast of home-made... More

As a family, Costa Rican-owned, business with a heavy conservation slant, I really wanted to like Posada Andrea Cristina. However, Alex had not accurately updated our reservation and was not expecting our arrival. Fortunately, a room was available, but not much of a welcome from the rest of the family. Our room was clean, but beginning to look rather dated,... More

Stayed here for two nights to visit La Selva Biological Station. Lovely jungle courtyard and open air breakfast area with lots of birds - aracaris, tanagers. Alex is very knowledgeable and helpful with planning and booking local sights as well as with advice for touring more widely. Breakfast is excellent and his recommendations for dinner in town top notch. Great... More

Even though it rained for a lot of our stay we still really enjoyed Sarapiqui and our stay in the Tree house. Some puddles of water appeared, Alex is on the case to mend the roof, but we stayed dry and it was still a fantastic experience. It is a great base for visiting La Selva. Book your tours at... More

Stayed in tree house room. So unique! Bring bug spray though. The owner- Alex is awesome. Breakfast is included and delicious. Fresh fruits, cheese, bread, eggs. Super friendly, loves to talk to you. Had an awesome Christmas Eve here with my tour group intrepid.

I ended up here by accident because I was on my way to Limon from Arenal and needed somewhere to stay in the middle. We got there at night and was so happy to be received by Alex. It was pouring rain but the rooms we got were clean and cozy. We were the only ones on the Posada that... More

Posada Andrea Christina is a most wonderful place to stay. My husband and I spent three nights there and wished it had been many more. Alex Martinez is the best host ever. Each morning he prepares breakfast of eggs, fruit and his home made bread and jam. He feeds the birds by the dining spot so that there is a... More

We found Alex Martinez by chance if you like, when a planned activity fell through and forced us to alter our plans. Alex was recommended to us and after a phone call agreed to take us out birdwatching the following morning. We had a super mornings birding capturing some memorable images of macaws, toucans and a whole host of other... More

Alex and his family really make you feel welcome and at home. Alex is full of information about the area and all of Costa Rica. He and his family make you feel welcome and at home. The breakfast is very good. The setting is a small natural second growth location where many birds come including Green Macaws. After sunset the... More
