The room was in an oultlying villa on the estate with a great view over Lake Maggiore. The service at the reception desk was excellent given that due to a misunderstnading I had not confirmed my booking. The weekly set menu for dinner was well crafted and served with a great white Merlot. Hotel guests get 10% off on dinner... More

We just wanted to escape the cold, rainy weekend north of the Alps, and made a lucky strike by getting a last-minute half-prize offer for this hotel. Everything was already said about Ascona as a lovely, even if snobby and overrun tourist destination, and about this hotel with its history and architecture, so I can spare my words. All I... More

The history of Monte Verita is filled with visionaries and idealists and the list of participants includes many recognizable names. The hotel is a beautiful Bauhaus building furnished appropriately in the same style. It's almost institutional in it's simplicity, but the setting is lush and beautiful. The staff is wonderful; helpful and friendly. Ascona is a lovely little town with... More

The hotel is in a quiet park with a gorgeaus view over the Lago Maggiore. It is special due to its history, so the rooms may look a bit "cold". One has to like the bauhaus-stile. It is worth to spend some time in the park around the hotel. The staff is very helpful and kind. For me a place... More

My husband and I stayed here for eight days during a conference and then tacked on some additional time afterwards. In general, if you're looking for a peaceful and quiet place to relax above Lake Maggiore, Monte Verita is your place. Pros: -Wonderful views of Lake Maggiore, especially from the roof of the hotel -Beautiful grounds with many tranquil places... More

We stayed at the hotel monte verità for only one night and we enjoyed the quiet location. The staff was very helpful and the bathroom quite nice. The room itself was rather small and a bit "cold" but the beds were good and it was quite exciting to reside in such a historic place. The breakfast buffet was o.k. and... More

this might not be a hotel for everyone, and i am personally not a fan of the bauhaus main building. but rooms 142 and 132 in the pink villa semiramis offer great views, and the staff is just lovely. also, you get the gardens and the unique history of monte verita. and the hike up from town is really not... I have stayed in this hotel four times for a yearly conference. It is a great place. There are many rooms which have a view on the lake. Especially on the pink building they have rooms with balconies and large windows that open to the lake view and getting up there in the morning is great!!

This place doesn't feel very Swiss. Rooms are austere to the point of absurdity. Our room had two single beds pushed together for the double bed, and no carpeting or TV. There is no lobby or waiting area and the hallways are bare and institutional. You felt like you were staying in a college dorm room or a hospital. On... More

A place out of context in one of the world's most beautiful scenery, Laggo Maggiore. The building is authentic Bauhaus and as such has attracted, and still does, bizarre characters. The magic of the place, Italy out of Italy, Swiss out of Switzerland, certainly contributes to a special experience.
