We've looked for a hotel near Lausanne where we can park our car and get to the city center with the metro, and found this lovely hotel. The hotel is located 7 min. walk from a metro station, near the university, and has a parking lot under it (or you can park for free close to the hotel when possible).... More

Excellent, very modern hotel. Very big and modern rooms. The rooms are very quiet. The staff very friendly. The restaurant serves decent food for reasonable prices. Key is it's proximity to EPFL. If you have business there, the hotel could not be better located. If you visit for touristic reasons, however, it's in the middle of nowhere (albeit close to... More

Excellent situation for our business on EPFL campus, but the hotel service is getting poorer and poorer, staff are generally pleasant, but their is little service orientation. It feels disorganised, with bills incorrect and accusations of removing items from rooms made in writing and then retracted with no apology. I will not bring business colleagues here again, it is a... More

Stayed here with many colleagues to attend a conference at the University (UNIL) nearby. Room was good and cleverly designed; very clean. Building design can mean that you have a fairly long walk to your room. I needed to eat in the hotel's restaurant for several nights; the standard of food was above average although the menu relatively small (I'd... More

I was attending a conference at EPFL/UNIL, and the Starling Hotel was a great place to stay for this purpose. It was right across the road from the campus, and a five or ten minute walk from the EPFL train station/convention center. The room was spotlessly clean and perfectly roomy for our needs. The hotel lent me converter for the... More

The Starling is located on the EPFL/UNIL campus outside the city. It is very convenient for business and conferences at the university but rather isolated from anything or anywhere else. The overall feel is that of a budget chain hotel: clean and efficient but absolutely no frills or personality. Beware if you arrive after 10.00pm when the restaurant closes because... More

The hotel is closed to the lake, so a part of the rooms have a fantastic view; i had a room on the 2 floor with a great view. The rooms are nice, clean with a lot of space and with a modern look. Also closed to the hotel is the train station , the connection are good and is... More

I've stayed here 3 times in the last 2 years. It's a fairly new hotel with nice views of the lake. It's really close (2-3 min walk) to EPFL. There is parking, though I didn't use it. The outdoor lake-facing terrace is a nice feature, when the weather is good. Breakfast is ample, everything is fresh and tasty. Service is... More

I like the modern style. The hotel is clean and comfortable, very close to the lake and to EPFL. The restaurant has a very simple meny, wich is the same every day. And not too much staff in the afternoons, so could take long till you get service at the restaurant. About the bedrroms: have a modern design, nice. But... More

Good space, nice design and rejuvenating with walking distance to lake, local restaurants, university canteen ;). It is important to secure a room towards the the lake side direction sin ce it gives you a good view of greenery (which is immediate), foilage & vegetation, lake and slow clad mountains - amazing. Good breakfast and encourage you to opt for... More
