My husband and son stayed here in two rooms next to each other the second week of July. (during a heat wave) I'm so glad we chose this hotel instead of a brand named hotel a little out of town.... It IS old. But that's what made is incredible. The rooms were clean, the pillows amazing....the bathrooms spacious (for the... More

We stayed in this charming old hotel right in the old village of Gruyeres, steps from the castle. It was very cute, and the tiny door to our room actually led to a very comfortable room. We had a triple, and there was an actual bed for the third person, not a cot or sofa bed. The bathroom was modern... More

Very nice place with little prétention just at the door of the village of gruyeres. Prices are a little high for what you get, but this is Switzerland and the views are breathtaking ! Close enough to have a satisfactory little walk after dining in one of the multiple restaurants in the old city ; and after the heavy cheese... More

Location: Gruyere village is in fact a main square with a couple of other streets branching off it. So anywhere you stay will be a matter a seconds away from the main sq. st George is right in the middle of the main sq, so location is good. Room: was tiny. Had to walk over a suitcase to get to... I've read some of the other reviews and find those that criticised the place for being "old fashioned" or to be "dated" to be quite sad. One only has to look outside the front door to notice where it is you are! The "dated" and rustic vibe is precisely what you want when visiting this town, seemingly untouched by time.... More

I fell into the 'nice website' trap when booking this hotel.. Up until now my theory has been if the management care enough about having a great site, they probably care enough about having a great hotel and a warm welcome.....this hotel disproves the theory. The room stank of mould (and i have a high tolerance for bad smells) ....the... More

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to review your experience on TripAdvisor. While I am very glad you were so impressed by our decor and internet presence, I am very disappointed to hear that we fell short on the service expectations. During the low season, our reception is attended until 2:00 pm. by the reception team, after that... More

We loved Hostelliere Saint George! We had room 12, right at the front of the hotel, and oh my goodness how picturesque looking out of the window, especially with the snow! We stayed here from Boxing day and stayed 2 nights. We loved the location of the hotel, and our room was small but so pretty and cosy. Bathroom was... More

I stayed one night at this hotel using a Smart Box including also the dinner. The Hotel is in the heart of the small village of Gruyeres where no card are allowed! In any case if you’re travelling by car don’t be afraid there are a lot of free parking before entering the village. I strongly recommend to visit Gruyeres... More

Dear Guest, We thank you for have taken the time to share your experience in our hotel. The cars are allowed before 10 am, and after 18:30h in the village to deposit the baggage, since it is a very small village, it is not really far away the parking lot at the entrance of Gruyères. We understand if the decor... More

we booked this last minute, and there were 2 rooms available. place seems to be resting on its laurels and betting on its locations. service is friendly, but rooms getting really too outdated, bathrooms in particular. we stayed in rooms 13 and 14, which have no view. pricing steep, for what it has to offer...unfortunately, guess the place will not... Having stayed at the des Chevaliers first (for two nights) I was a little dissapointed with this hotel. Where I had been led to believe I would have an upgraded room with a view (Smartbox voucher) I was put in a smaller room with tiny wardrobe and no drawer space. Thank goodness I only stayed one night and didnt unpack... More
