I went to Bir with little knowledge about the place and no expectations. Yes, Bir is beautiful. However, the Colonel's Retreat and Resort was the most amazing surprise. Spacious rooms, very clean towels and bedsheets, the own grown tea and vegetables,a serene and lovely location, very good (not restaurant like) food, excellent service and above all - The warmth of... We had been to Colonel's resort last week and had fantabulous experience. The place is excellently serene and well maintained, keeping the natural beauty intact. The resort is in the midst of tea gardens and pear plantation. The rooms are spacious and testfully done. Colonel Singh and his ever enthusiastic wife Mrs. Pratibha are perfect hosts. The food is delicious... More

JP and Pratibha are hosts of the highest order. I stayed with them for nine days then returned unplanned a few days later to stay another eight nights -- I missed their TLC! (I'd been in India for three months and was feeling a bit worn out from all the travel.) While I did not join the early morning walks,... More

colonel's resort at bir is a wonderful place to stay. not just because of the scenic nature of the place, the weather and the mountains around, but also because of the thoughtful, helping and generous natured hosts. food was excellent. all the arrangements in place in the army way - on time and well executed. the colonel personally took us... I stayed at the Colonels Resort for nine days and had an incredible time. The rooms are lovely and it is a peaceful area near the Tibetan village in Bir. The colonel and his lovely wife do an excellent job managing the resort and helping guests with travel arrangements around the area. Every morning at 6:30 AM the colonel invited... More

Looked after very well by Colonel JP Singh and his lovely wife during our too short stay, but was there long enough to go on a wonderful early morning walk with the Colonel through the tea plantations and nearby countryside. Colonel Singh arranged for two of us to then go Para-sailing at nearby Billing later that morning, which was a... More

We went to Bir on recommendation from close friends, they had praised it so much that it was impossible to resist it, and usually such stories end in anti climax but we returned with memories of one of the best holiday we have ever had. And this was all thanks to JP and his lovely wife who run the colonel's... More

In January, I decided to fulfill a long-held dream to visit India. I flew into New Delhi from San Francisco, joined up with a few others, and rode a rented van north. The trip was exhausting, I ended up feeling as if I'd bitten off more than I could chew. We stayed one night in Bir, at the Colonel's Resort.... More

I stayed at the Colonel's Resort for two nights and enjoyed every moment of it. The Colonel and his wife are wonderful hosts and take care of you during your stay. I enjoyed wonderful conversations with them during breakfast and dinner, and the Colonel gave me a great walking tour of Bir village. The staff also is very polite and... More

We spent 6 days at the Colonel's Resport, and had an excellent experience. We went on morning walks with JP (the Colonel), and enjoyed their company for tea, nightly soup, and during the excellent meals they prepared. They attended to our every need, and we very much appreciated it. I highly reommend the Colonel's Resort. Tom Watson, Granada Hills, CA
