We enjoyed staying here very much. If I understand correctly the front half of the building was built in 1300! OK, this is not the Ritz... lots of stairs and warped floors etc. but the perfect atmosphere for visiting one of our favorite oldtowns in Europe. Our room was very clean, simple yes but had a very nice modern bathroom.... More

This is a very charming hotel. The reservation process was very easy and they have a wonderful room with 2 or 3 bedrooms, plenty of room for 5 people. The furnishings are quite old and could be more comfortable, but fine, really. The unfortunate part is the Saturday night loudness at the grill across the street. The noise went on... More

This characterful piece of history dates back to 1322 and transports guests back in time. We cherished every experience - from the narrow wooden spiral staircase that squeaked dangerously under our weight and that of heavy luggage, to the large and very comfortable room from another era filled with antiques and beautiful curtains, to a delightful breakfast served in the... Stayed here for one night on the way to Italy via motorcycle. Most of the journey from Calais that day it had bucketed it down with rain .On arrival the boss of the hotel was stood in the door and watched us park up.He shook his head in amazement thinking of the conditions we had traveled down in that day.We were... The Alte Thorschenke in Cochem transports you back in time. Parts of the hotel date from the 1300's. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Our bed was a semi-canopy bed of wood painted with fairy-tale like scenes. The breakfast is a delight, served in a large hunting lodge-themed room. Delicious breads, meats, cheeses, yogurts, juice, eggs and breakfast meat on... More

If you're looking for the Ritz Carlton or even a Best Western, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for an historic hotel in the heart of the old town, with an easy walk to shops, restaurants and wine stores, this is definitely the place for you. The breakfast was very good with a wide selection.... More

We loved this old hotel in a fantastic location. It is so old and I believe part of the old city wall that some of the floors are slanted in some of the rooms, which only adds to the charm of transporting you back in time. It seems to fit with the quaintness of the town........If you want modern hotel... More

As a group of ten friends we stayed for 3 nights for the Cochem winefest. The hotel was perfectly located with fantastic views and in the very centre of Cochem. It was a little expensive but well worth the money and I wouldn't hesitate to book it again. The rooms were typically plain but very clean and extremely comfortable. Breakfast... More

The hotel is old, not particularly renovated. Hotel staff is excellent, but there is only so much they can do. It was a hot day and I asked for a fan and eventually received one, as the third-floor room was like a sauna. The fan was not particularly strong, but every little bit helped. The bathroom was equipped with exactly... More

I have been a lot to this hotel because both the location as the nature *buikld in a ancient city gate) is quite special. The room (the Turner suite) was fine and the availability of a fridger was quite useful. Next morning(s) during breakfast things were okay unitl I noticed that the breakfast food cheese sausages etc were placed with... More
