I have returned often to Germany since I was stationed there in 1969/70, and thought I knew its cities and attractions fairly well. The beauty of Speyer at Christmas time caught me by surprise. As you walk up through the vibrant Christmas Market, the majestic cathedral towers over the scene. Just to the right of the Cathedral, the Hotel Domhof... More

I've stayed at this hotel several times and it is always clean and fairly comfortable. The only problem I find is it is too warm, even with the radiators turned off. If you open the windows, you are likely to be awoken by the bells of the Domhof, in the early hours. However, at this time of year, it is... More

The rooms were a good size & very clean. The breakfast options were limited & there's no room service which was difficult being by myself & not knowing German. There was wifi which worked pretty well. It's in a great area, close to the Cathedral & many other shops. I also had beautiful views from my room.

Lovely size family room with compact but very clean bathroom. Nice shampoo too! Excellent breakfast in nice big room with character. Hot chocolate for the kids. Good location very central. Parking onsite was ok as locked garage (great one we had worked out the German! ) Dinner was very busy but very tasty.

As others have pointed out, this hotel is in a great location for sight-seeing as well as restaurants and shopping. It is a short bus ride from the train station, or you can get a taxi for around 5 euros. My room was located on the second floor and was spacious. It overlooked the courtyard which was quite pleasant. There... More

Speyer is so photogenic and lots to see. The hotel has its own parking and is right next to a very popular and nice Brauhaus with very good value German food. The room we had was spacious and lovely. I just wish more German restaurants would take credit cards!

The room was acceptable and the location is good in this village. But beware during the summer months because there is no air conditioning and the rooms are hot. Be prepared to sweat. Some rooms are near the exhaust of a local bakery which is a heat and noise problem. You can open a window but there is only one... More

A one night stay in a spacious comfortable room with a good breakfast and helpful staff was very much appreciated. But you need to enjoy the sound of bells because they clang at the Cathedral all through the night every quarter of an hour - they did not disturb me much but if you are a light sleeper this may... Very well situated - virtually next door to the main street and Cathedral. Large comfortable rooms. Excellent buffet breakfast. Reception staff rather dismissive, speaking very quickly which for those like the writer lacking fluency in German, is quite intimidating. Still, in their defence, they were obviously very busy. They have a decent sized car park for a city centre hotel.... More

There are certainly better hotels in Speyer. I've been staying in the city for the entire summer and have fallen in love with the Domhof biergarten. So when my mom decided to come visit I really wanted her to stay at the Domhof hotel. The first night she was in town it wasn't available so she got a room at... More
