We stayed at the Castle Rheinfels around Carnival time because we wanted to “escape” the carnival and spend a nice, quiet wellness weekend. The castle itself is really nicely situated above St. Goar with great looks over the Rhine. Also the area around the hotel is great for long walks in the nature. The view from the Restaurant is also... More

We planned on staying at Romantik Hotel Schloss Rheinfels when we decided to take a boat cruise along River Rhine. The view from the room and the restaurant looking over River Rhine is amazing. Dinner at the hotel is quite expensive (70 Euro person) but is worth it because of the view. Booking in advance is required if you would... More

We planned to visit a castle or two when we spent a couple of days in Germany recently. It was fabulous to spend the night in a building that has been in existence for such a long time, we have castles in South Africa but they are quite different! The staff were very helpful and we enjoyed the food at... More

Lovely area, we should have done more research and not visited in winter months (jan-feb)...or maybe we shouldn't have gotten married 20 years ago in jan! Anyway, the river boats don't run very often, the shops are mostly all closed and even the rheinfels castle is closed. Like the title says, the hotel is very nice. Top class service but... More

We have been traveling in Europe for 40 years and this was one of our great experiences. The Hotel is in a converted old castle perched on a hill above the Rhine. The views from our room and from the dining room were incredible. The staff was polite and helpful however there were no bellmen to help with the luggage.... More

We stayed at this hotel whilst driving down through Germany. It is a spectacular location with great views of the Rhine, in a scenic, interesting and vibrant part of Germany. It is expensive of course, but in my view worth it. I wish we could have stayed longer to really enjoy it. When we arrived, there was a medieval looking... More

Lovely setting on the Rhine, large rooms but they were very hot- it was a bit of a heatwave when we were there! Opening the windows helped but the noise from the trains all night (every 3 minutes!) long kept us awake! Not the hotels fault, but it really needs to address this-maybe an electric fan in the room? We... More

What a beautiful hotel, with an awesome view overlooking the Rhine and having enough history to fill a book. The kitchen is fantastic, the buffet breakfast is as good as you will find anywhere and the wine menu is extensive and relatively reasonable. Be sure to make dinner reservations and request a table by the window. There is also a... More

Stayed one night on route to Italy. On the plus side the view from the room and the room itself was fantastic, getting to the room however involved lots of stairs so suggest you travel light! Although we had booked well in advance for dinner we were shown to a table at the rear of the restaurant as all others... More

We absolutely loved the setting, above the village with beautiful views over the Rhine (the only room left when we booked was a deluxe one, which gave us our own private terrace, which was well worth it, not least for the views). The building, an old castle, is beautiful. The beds were amazingly comfortable, the spa was lovely, breakfast excellent... More
